Oregon Coast Experiencing Mixed Markets
by Blanche Evans
Oregon coastal markets are experiencing low and high tides. Arch Cape
Rippet says the Arch Cape real estate market is a little on the slow side. "This is due to the fact that when people buy here they keep their homes," explains Rippet. "New construction is slowing down in this area, due to the sewage treatment facility needing to be expanded. "Please note that these figures come from the Clatsop MLS and do not include the statistics from other real estate companies who are not members of the Clatsop MLS," says Rippet. Gearhart "Gearhart is a small beach community that is located approximately 13 miles south of where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean," says Rippet. "Gearhart is a very popular vacation destination. This town has a challenging public golf course and one of the very few beaches, in Oregon, that you can drive on." With mortgage rates at historical lows, it is possible to get much more home for your money, says Rippet. "The market in Gearhart is good and always seems to stay steady. There is new construction with opportunities to choose your own floor plans. This area offers everything from ranch-style homes in a country setting to luxurious ocean front homes.
Cannon Beach "Cannon Beach is a small coastal town located approximately 20 miles south of where the Columbia River and the Pacific Ocean meet," describes Rippet. "Cannon Beach is well known for its arts community. There are many unique shops and galleries to meander through. Cannon Beach offers the special opportunity to explore the tidal pools at the famous Haystack Rock." The real estate market in Cannon Beach is always good, he says. "This small community offers everything from the small beach cottages to luxurious ocean front homes. This is a very desirable community due to its size and charm. Seaside Seaside is a little coastal town located 15 miles south of where the Columbia River meets the Pacific Ocean. Seaside offers a beautiful sandy beach and a relaxing atmosphere.
