Prince George's County, Saint Mary's County, Charles County, and Calvert County-area towns offer southern Maryland homebuyers the best of country living, say local Realtors.
"Welcome to one of Maryland's richest and fastest growing counties," says Realtor Tanya Glass. "Come see why Prince Georges has become home to many new home owners."
Touts Realtor Carlos Gautier, "Saint Mary's County is located south and east of Charles County, north of the Chesapeake Bay, and west of Calvert County. It is loving called 'The Mother County' by locals. It's rich in early Maryland history. Lots of country here, with great seafood galore. It's a fast-growing area where you can get a bit more still for your money than areas that are closer to the city. Many have moved down here and commute to DC for work. Those that love the country living have to look here."
Mitchellville
"Mitchellville is a one-stop location," says Glass. "Community living enhanced with shopping, schools, churches, and all of your every day needs and wants. Why go anywhere else when all you needs are in your very own back yard? There are shopping centers, schools, community college, churches, home needs and business needs all in one very organized community."
Upper Marlboro
Upper Marlboro is east of Camp Springs, north of Brandywine, south of Bowie, and west of Lothian," says Gautier. "Upper Marlboro has a get mix of close to the city living on its north side, along with some of the most beautiful rolling meadows (in the southern parts) you'll see in this area."
He enthuses, "Upper Marlboro has the best of both worlds - from this close to the city living near the beltway, to its country settings down in the southern parts. Downtown Upper Marlboro's quaint setting area with the Equestrian center is the turning point to the more sprawled out larger homes and estates. Older neighborhoods are scattered down the countryside here and there to form a nice blend with the newer stately developments being built. You'll enjoy this setting especially with that short commute from work to your new home."
Mechanicsville
"Mechanicsvile is located south Hughesville, north of Leonardtown, west of the Pax River, and east of Crain Hwy Rt. 30. Mechanicsville is getting into the heart of Southern Maryland's country setting. Here you'll find homes start to boast larger lots at modest prices. Some older communities along with newer custom built home neighborhoods popping up. There are water-front areas that home shoppers can still get in at good prices for the metro area," says Gautier. "Mechanicsville is growing fast, though lots of undeveloped farmland is still plentiful. You still see the Amish riding their goods to market in their horse-drawn wagons. Many home owners commute to DC, Andrews AFB, Pax River, Waldorf and even Virginia from down here. Those that are looking to have a real country setting and farm fresh living need to get a peek at these parts. There aren't that many areas in commuting distance of the city with this country setting left. Especially at these prices. Get out here and get your piece while it lasts."
