Third Annual RECyberspace Convention To Draw Record Crowds
by Blanche Evans
The Third Annual National Real Estate On-Line Convention and Exposition, is expected to attract over 50,000 real estate professionals from April 18 -24, 2004, says Real Estate Cyberspace Society Director Jack Peckham, sponsor of the event. That would make it the most well-attended real estate convention in history. Even the National Association of Realtors annual convention only draws half that number, but they have to leave home, sometimes from great distances and at great expense, to attend. All attendees have to do on April 18th is log onto their computers and go to http://www.recyber.com/preconvention/. The convention and Expo take place entirely online. Why the big number crashing the gates? The convention grew from 20,000 to 32,000 in the first two events. Second, the convention is being condensed from two five-day events to one seven-day event. "It's a much more mature event with hundreds of repeat Association and organizational sponsors," explains Peckham. "And we'll have the presence of keynote speaker, best-selling author Barbara Corcoran. " Barbara Corcoran, CEO The Corcoran Group, whom CNN describes as "the most sought-after broker in Manhattan and one of the most powerful brokers in the country” will keynote the event on Monday April 19th. The two additional convention keynotes include Peckham’s presentation on Wednesday: "On the Internet, Nobody Knows You're a Dog" and real estate author and futurist, Stefan Swanepoel, will present the wrap-up keynote on Friday with “Real Estate Confronts the Future." All keynotes will feature live audience questions and feedback. "The 2004 On-line Convention brings real estate professionals all of the excitement and features of a "hard floor" convention," promises Peckham. "Attendees will learn from over 30 top-notch nationally recognized speakers such as Michael Russer, Jim Young, Jerri Rossi, Scot Kenkel, the E-Mail Doctor and Matthew Ferrara, and see the latest products and services at the On-Line Expo, network at the Convention's Virtual Networking Center be able to enjoy some fun and relaxation in the Convention On-line Social Center." The convention will also showcase products and services through the Exposition where attendees can qualify for door prizes, drawings and raffles. New navigation at the Expo will put attendees in the booths of their choices with a simple click. Over 300 booths will be open 24 hours a day during the event week. So what is new, exciting and different? Chat rooms have been added for attendees to network. A new networking center will allow attendees to meet live with the speakers and ask questions about their presentations. Some booths will offer live chats of their own, plus feature live presentations. A ticker tape will keep attendees informed of convention events. "If the Society rates a pat on the back for this event it should be for bringing together such an array of sponsors and exhibitors who graciously cover the costs," says Peckham. "With this support we are able to produce the event, with all it's high-powered speakers, information and networking opportunities, and provide it to real estate professionals completely free from any cost."
