Realtors Find Their Informedia Websites Have Gone Black
by Blanche Evans
After trying and failing to get Informedia Group, Inc. founder Alan Isabelle to answer a few questions, Realty Times has learned that he's disappeared and left no forwarding address, but angry Realtors plan to hunt him down. People like New York agent Janice Bourne paid for Informedia Web sites which were sold at seminars headlined by none other than Floyd Wickman, that have since gone black. They can't get their domain names and start other with another Web host because Isabelle had them registered to his now-defunct company instead of to the rightful owners. "I want my domain name so I can continue," says Bourne. "I've been burnt, and there was never anything that could be done. I am a victim who is unable to contact anyone at Informedia because all the Websites there are down.I need to know how to go about getting my domain name to belong to me." Several times Realty Times posed the question to him - "For what reason would a Web design/hosting company register its customers' domain names with itself as the registrar?" Isabelle never responded. He tried to blame employees for the company's financial problems, but that provided no explanation for the registration of customers' domain names to Informedia. Attempting to paint himself as cooperative, Isabelle laid down a smoke screen that another company called Phase 2 was going to buy the assets of Informedia Group, Inc. and that the new company would take over operations and that in the meantime, all customers had to do was write and request that the domain names be returned and moved to a new host. He told Realty Times that clients wanting domain transfer authorizations should send their requests to domains@informediagroup.com. Realty Times added - "If no response, please contact " Unfortunately, emails have poured in from agents who say Isabelle didn't respond. Not only did Isabelle ignore requests to transfer domain names to new hosts, the site has gone black, he's disappeared, and agents find that they can' t access their Websites or email from their Websites. Bourne for one wasn't taking the situation lying down. Using a prepaid legal service to send a letter of demand to Isabelle, Bourne is still waiting for a response. Theoretically, if Isabelle doesn't cooperate within 30 days, then the legal service offers advice on what other actions can be taken. In Bourne's case, the legal service told her to contact the attorney general of New Jersey, where Isabelle's company is registered. "If enough people contact them, then they might do something," reasons Bourne. With the nose of a true detective, Bourne found that Isabelle has covered his tracks well. "When I went into the white pages under Alan Isabelle, and then used a reverse directory, the phone number was issued to another person," she found. "I haven't reached this person, but the Informedia phone number shows up as valid for Informedia and someone named W. Adams at 9 Applewood Ln, Morristown, NJ 07960-5955. His phone number is also 973-285-0070, the same as Isabelle's." She also put in a call to the District Attorney's office in Morristown. "I'm waiting for a call back from a Richard Brown. The number I called was 973-645-2700, but it's too early to tell if that is the correct number or person, so I'll keep you posted." Bourne also wrote a letter of complaint to the New Jersey Better Business Bureau, but they wrote back that they couldn't help as Informedia moved and left no forwarding address. "In my search, I discovered two additional addresses for them, and faxed it in to the Better Business Bureau 1-Box 444, Mendham, NJ 07945 and 2-50 Ccurtis Place, Maplewood, NJ 07040. I also noticed an Alan Isabelle in Mandham, but don't know if it's him." "By the way, if readers need the number to the Better Business Bureau in NJ its: 609-588-0808, the fax is 609-588-0546. They are located at 1700 Whitehorse Hamilton Square Road, Ste. D-5, Trenton, NJ 80690-3596," she adds.
