"Thousand Oaks is an ideal area to raise a family," says Realtor Gary Ericson, "it has excellent local school districts, clean air, and the lowest crime rate on a national survey."

About the market, Ericson observes, "Listing inventory is low and construction of new homes in the Conejo Valley is almost complete. There will continue to be upward pressure on local home prices. Median home price increased $102,000 in the last year."

"This city is conveniently located 39 miles west of Los Angeles and 12 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean," says Realtor Michael Ansari. "Thousand Oaks is home to the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. As the only performing arts center of its size between Los Angeles and San Francisco, the Civic Arts Plaza, provides outstanding entertainment opportunities to Southern California residents and visitors."

He continues, "The city of Thousand Oaks, population 121,000, lies within the Conejo Valley, a picturesque, mountain-rimmed plateau, 900 feet above sea level in Ventura County. This family-friendly community continually ranks as one of the safest cities for its size in the nation by FBI reporting standards. The community is served by the Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) which operates four high schools, four intermediate and 19 elementary schools; 16 have been named Distinguished California Schools. Thousand Oaks is also home to California Lutheran University. The average single-family home price in the last 180 days in this city was approximately $725,000 and condominiums averaged $345,000. Due to lack of inventory for residential real estate for sale, home prices have sharply appreciated in recent years."
