Racine County

"Racine County is located on the western shore of Lake Michigan, approximately 65 miles north of Chicago and 25 miles south of Milwaukee," say Realtors Ron and Diana Dahlberg. "It is bordered by Kenosha (south), and Waukesha (north), and Walworth (west) Counties. Racine County population boasts 185,000 while the city holds approximately 86,000. Neighborhoods throughout Racine county are teeming with young professionals, growing families, and firmly-planted senior citizens."

The Dahlbergs explain, "Large stretches of farmland, and a rural lifestyle, are easily found in Racine County. Cities and towns in Racine County offer affordable and extravagant housing options, including single- or multi-family homes, apartments, condominiums and farms. Hugging the shoreline of Lake Michigan is an eclectic array of architecture and neighborhoods. The north shore is known for its historic Wind Point Lighthouse. Built in 1880 and fully automated in 1964, the lighthouse is a beacon of recognition for boaters, as it is the oldest, and tallest, lighthouse in operation on Lake Michigan. The near-north side area, on the bank of the Root River, is scattered with time-honored churches and cream city brick homes. The revitalized Downtown area boasts buildings classified as historical landmarks through new construction. It is the place where the traditions from the days of yore unite with the hustle and bustle of today's urban offerings. Business owners and downtown residents agree that this is the place to be!"

"The village of Shorewood is located in Milwaukee County and is the first suburb north of the City of Milwaukee on Lake Michigan," says Realtor Lana Levchenko. "At just over 1.5 square miles, it is bounded on the west by the Milwaukee River, and the village of Whitefish Bay to the north."

"Incorporated in 1900 as the village of East Milwaukee, Shorewood is the fourth oldest suburb in the Milwaukee area," continues Levchenko. "The name of the village was changed to Shorewood in 1917. The community's educational priorities are reflected in consistently high academic achievement. Shorewood school district is located in Shorewood, WI, a community of 14,000 people on the shore of Lake Michigan. We are just north of the city of Milwaukee and within walking distance of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee campus. Four schools, Atwater Elementary, Lake Bluff Elementary, Shorewood Intermediate and Shorewood High School, serve a student population of 2200."

About the market, Levchenko says, "Between December and February, there have been over 26 transactions, with properties on the market from two to 57 days, with an average of 25 days. Price ranges are from $103,500 to $1,300,000, with an average of $364,462."
