For the past generation, Brighton has been recognized as one of America's most attractive residential towns, says a local Realtor, and the town is also investing in its future with a spectacular new amenity -- a Central Park-inspired public space.

"The "Spring" seasonal supply and demand ratios are evident with quite a few more homes on the market than number of motivated buyers available," says Realtor Earl Krakower. "Buyers are strongly favoring homes that are in outstanding condition over those needing updating or a lot of work, overwhelmingly."

Krakower explains, "Established in 1814, Brighton is one of the oldest towns in Monroe County. Brighton is located in Western New York, bordering the City of Rochester to its north and the Genesee River to its west. The population of the town is approximately 36,000. Named for Brighton, England, the Town of Brighton was first settled about 1790. Until the 20th century, it remained a farming community. Early businesses included brick making and nurseries."

"Brighton progressed, and developed, into a diverse suburban residential community with strong neighborhoods, elegant homes, elaborate gardens and landscaped subdivisions," continues Krakower. "For the past generation, Brighton has been recognized as one of America's most attractive residential towns. "In academics, Brighton ranks in the top 100 school districts in the nation and is in the top 10 of New York State. Recently, the town made news by purchasing 64 acres of land that will be developed into a "central park" for town residents. Brighton occupies approximately 15 square miles of land southeast of Rochester. Homes on Brighton's carefully landscaped streets range from comfortable 1920's, '30s, and '40s single-family dwellings to newer subdivisions and condominiums. The community also has its share of "mansions," and other notable landmarks including the University of Rochester, Mount Hope Cemetery, and Genesee Valley Park. Commercial areas include retail shops and restaurants at the Twelve Corners and near Mount Hope and South Avenues, as well as more chain based retail areas toward Henrietta. Brighton's schools are acknowledged to be among the region's best."
