5 Ways To Renovate Your Floor

Written by Posted On Thursday, 31 August 2017 10:15

Renovating a floor can be really expensive. Here we look at how to renovate your floor so you can have a beautiful home with a small budget.

Replacing your floor might seem like a costly job but it doesn't need to be. There are cheaper alternatives enabling you to have a beautiful home on a budget. This is a lifesaver if your floors are worn down and desperately need refurbishing, but also if you need to stretch your budget to more pressing matters within your home redesign.

Here are 5 ways to renovate your floor on a budget:

Fix Rather Than Completely Replace

Is there a way you can fix the floor rather than redo it? For example; perhaps the floor tiles could be cleaned up and regrouted to make them appear like new? Perhaps it would be cheaper to replace a few floor tiles rather than change the whole floor. It is certainly worth looking into before ripping the whole floor up.

Concrete

Concrete can be polished to make it look nice, and it doesn't cost much compared to other types of flooring. Concrete sealants are what make the concrete non-porous and therefore hygienic and easy to clean. What is great about these sealants is that they can be combined with colours or other materials to make the floor look nice as well as sealing off the pores. This surface can then be polished to look beautiful.

Vinyl

Vinyl is the go-to low cost floor option and the beauty of it is that it comes in so many different effects, colours, finishes and styles. You are bound to find the right one for your home. If you are quite handy with DIY or you don't mind doing a bit of research, you can save money on installation as well and put it down yourself.

Laminate

Laminate is a good choice if you want a low-cost new flooring for a room that isn't exposed to water. So living room, dining room and bedrooms are all good options but the bathroom and kitchen are not laminate suitable. This is because the edges are susceptible to water damage. Otherwise it is very durable and great for all dry areas of the home.

Cork

Cork is the latest trend in flooring, and for excellent reasons. It is hypoallergenic, it is eco-friendly, it is durable and it is beautiful. It is also very comfortable to walk on which makes it ideal for a family home. The cost is actually less than hardwood floors, particularly if you opt for a more natural type.

Remember that you should always do your research before buying any flooring or hiring a company to install flooring. There's always a bargain to be had, and it may be that there are options out there that you haven't heard of yet. There might also be special offers, or price drops with more expensive flooring you considered out of your budget. Research and patience will help ensure you end up with the perfect low-cost flooring for your home.
