6 Home Setting Advice for the Newlyweds

Written by Posted On Sunday, 03 September 2017 08:46

As you’ve made your union official, greater chances are you’re moving into a new apartment and about to start a new life together.

Wedding prep parties are all gone, and now is the time to get real about everything. Living together as a couple isn’t easy; I’ve been there and I know what it feels like.

One of the ways to make your home enjoyable to both of you beginnings is through a proper home setup. It goes a long way in easing the journey ahead.

Here are 6 home setting tips for the newlyweds like you.

List your home wants and needs

Agreed, you guys are now one. But things have to be done to suit both of you. Get a pen and paper, and list your wants and needs in a home. First, do this individually. Then, look at both lists together and then decide.

Do you need an in-house office space? What type of kitchenware would you prefer and what colours appeal to you? You must have a common goal before heading out to shop to prevent a conflict of interest.

Check your existing properties

It’s not impossible that you both have your personal properties before you got married. Getting married doesn’t mean you should discard them. Chances are you’ll find them useful in your new home. In case you’re on a budget, repurposing your old properties is a great idea that you might like to consider.

DIY Home Decor

Though we were immediately busy after our wedding, that didn’t stop us from doing how decor ourselves. We created a home dummy. On it, we pinned or wrote the specific fittings for each spot. You could also do same, as this will help you focus on the shape, size, and style of the items that you plan to buy.

Do the Shopping together

Never make the mistake of shopping alone. You should make time for that fun together. This helps you to make a realistic decision and to avoid possible arguments. You both need to make a joint assessment like you did when you went through diamond shopping guide before making a decision to buy your engagement and wedding rings that signify love and other beautification purposes.

The benefits of doing this include creating an excellent bonding time, displaying your bargaining skills, and helping you select the best properties for your home.

Talk out your paint choice

Apparently, paint colour occupies more space than any other home beautification item. Unfortunately, it has to be carefully chosen as it has influences one's emotions, efficiency, and homeliness.

Having different colour preferences is normal but you should talk this over and make the decision together. This is absolutely not the time to hands off and says “just use your colour.” Have a say too, so as not to come back feeling cheated.

Make the house a home

Creating memories of your home is such an amazing feeling. This can be done by displaying pictures of notable events in nice frames and use paintings that pass ideal messages. Learning how to do this can be a form of recreation for both of you. Personalising your house naturally brings out the perfect aura.
