A Referral from the Sky Triggered An Unfinished Home Sale!

Written by Posted On Monday, 09 October 2017 08:26

This is a story about the most interesting referral that I ever received in my thirty three years in real estate. It reveals what happens when you are a real estate broker, care about your clients, and give them the service that they deserve. Following are the actual events that took place prior to my sale of a new unfinished home:

1. Ad call. Received a call on an early marketing advertisement that we ran on a new home that was just started in a subdivision.

2. Showing appointment. Set up an appointment to show the caller several new homes on acreage type properties located in the Woodinville, WA area.

3. Result of the home showings. I spent about one hour and forty five minutes showing a variety of new homes to the buyer prospect. It was my first meeting with him and it went

fairly well however I wasn’t sure it would lead to a positive result. The prospect was a Captain for a major airlines who lived in Utah and was interested in relocatng to the

Northwest with his family. At the end of our meeting the pilot told me he had to fly back East and would call me again when he got back in the area. Afterwards I did not

believe that I would ever hear from him again. I’m not sure why, it was just a feeling that I had because many prospects are often a little nervous when it comes to dealing with

a broker they have never met before..

4. My referral from the sky. Two or three weeks later I received a call from the same airlines Captain and he said “I am back in the area and I want to buy a new house

but I only want to work with you”. I asked him why he only wanted to work with me and this was his answer: “After I left you to fly back East, I was about 25,000 feet

in the air and I asked my co-pilot, who lived in the same general area, if he had ever heard of you”. His answer was “Yes, I have bought two homes from him and

I would not deal with any other broker”. It was exciting to learn that I could get a referral from the sky and I wasn’t worried for a moment that it came out of

            the clouds.

5. I SOLD him a new unfinished home on a shy acre type site in Redmond, WA.

Getting a referral like this was a fun experience. It reminded me that it is

a small world we live in and satisfied customers usually give back!
