The general theory is that people are buying more frequently in spring and summer time. This makes sense considering school is out, and relocating becomes much more tangible. Not to mention, the weather is much more pleasant to go house shopping. The best time to list is somewhere between May and September.

The best day of the week to list is Saturday morning. This insures that your listing will be towards the top when prospective buyers begin to look at listings. Listing on a Friday is statistically the second best option.
