In some countries in houses even on this day, we see a lack of proper water supply. Many of these houses still have to get their water from a well or a local tank that may be located a distance from them.

Wells are especially still found in old farmhouses where people have to get all their water from the well. There is nothing wrong with drinking or using water from a well. Generally, water that comes from a well is pure natural water, without any chemicals added.

However, if one is living in the city, you get all your water from the municipality or local government water agency in your area. They typically filter the water to make sure that it is clean and has all the properties that are needed.

But, depending on where you live in the world, it will have an impact on how clean the water supply is. Nonetheless, all over the world, we see problems with water supply. There are places in the world where they do not put a lot of effort in to clean the water provided to the people for drinking and using it.

When using the water then to bath or shower, or for the toilet may not make such a big difference. But when people are drinking the water, it must be clean. Dirty water can cause a couple of problems when it enters the human body.

If you know or suspect that your water is dirty or not clean enough to drink, have it tested and you should then rather buy bottled water to drink.

But, back to the well water, as I said well water is generally pure and natural. However, there are times when well water can cause small problems. In general, water contains fluoride, water provided to us by government institutes are measured and then fluoride is added or removed to ensure just enough is in our water supply.

With good water, we may find that sometimes the fluoride levels can be too little or too much. Fluoride in the water helps to clean teeth from bacteria and assists with baby teeth to grow strong.

If there is too much fluoride in the water it can cause your teeth stain. Your teeth can start to show greyish or white colored spots. Normal brushing will not help to remove these types of stains. Thus, you will need to go and see a dentist to have these stains removed. Furthermore, you will probably need to go for several sessions to get these stain of completely as these stains are absorbed into the enamel of your teeth.

When fluoride levels are not sufficient it can also cause teeth to grow weak, as fluoride helps strengthen teeth as they grow. Generally, in such a case, we see that kids are most vulnerable and may have a variety of health issues with their teeth as they grow. You will need to get the well water tested asap! It can only benefit you and your family’s health, especially if drinking the water.

If the water is tested and it does not contain all the elements that it should, it may be corrected by a water expert that can advise you on how to get it corrected. In the meantime, it will be good to buy bottled water for drinking. You will feel healthier and will see a positive change in dental health when you start to drink clean water.

It is still a very good idea to test your water even if you are getting “clean” water. There are times that people may find that the water they are drinking is actually very unhealthy. This can happen over long periods of time. There may be something in the ground that changed or something fell into your well that could affect the water. It will do no harm to just do a test, as it will benefit you and the family. As said, water can do more damage than just discoloring your teeth.

You may be thinking that you have been drinking the water for many years and nothing has ever happened. Yes, maybe not, but, you all know that saying “Never say Never”. Things do not change overnight, dirtying of water may take many years before it starts to have an effect. You might wake up one morning and be very ill. So, do yourself a favor and get the test done.
