There are so many people that are not even aware of all the different things we eat and drink that can affect our oral health. Most people know that sodas are bad for your teeth, right? However, many are not aware of the fact that even your water can cause damage to your oral health.

Dental health is one of the most important factors to consider when looking at the health of a person’s body. If you have terrible dental health it can cause a lot of other problems within the body. The mouth connects a person’s entire body.

Ensure your homes water is safe for consumption

Most people prefer to drink bottled water in today’s day and age as it is so healthy. Well, yes, generally water is healthy and it is said that bottled water is the best. But, you should maybe have a look at what is in the bottled water you buy and drink. Not all bottled water is health as many are considered to be a production of food and drug manufacturers. A lot of the available bottled water has no fluoride in them and this is needed to help keep teeth healthy. We surely do not want any dental emergencies to arise due to an insufficient intake of fluoride. Many other have additional chemicals added which may also be detrimental to a person’s health.

Tap Water

So many people today are against the use of tap water as they have heard that it is bad for your health. However, there are so many different good properties that tap water has to offer for both your health and your dental health. Although, there are a few factors that need to be considered when drink tap water. When it comes to drinking water from your home taps, it is said to be good to have your water tested.

After some time, (especially in older houses) Pipes can rust. Rusted pips may give a different taste to drinking water but sometimes it does not, thus, it’s best to have the water tested. Old rusted pips in a home may even give of pieces of rust which are not always visible in the water.

If you have a tank, you may also have other issues except for rust. Water tanks that are old and rusted may have holes in, and this can also be found in old pipes that are rusted really badly.

Once a hole has formed in a rusted pipe or water tank, it may allow many different things to enter your drinking water.

This can include things such as:

Mud/sand

Bugs (ants, worms)

Consequently, everyone should really get their water tested, especially if you live in older homes. Once the water is tested, you will know if the pips in your home should be fixed, replaced with new ones or if they are fine. Getting your water tested, it will also be able to tell you what is in your water. Sometimes water pipes and tanks can only be flushed if there isn’t any damage present.

When moving into a new home you should always get the water tested, as many houses may look brand new but the pipping could be very old. Most people when selling their home ensures that the house looks brand new but they usually do not replace any of the pipes in a home.

Even if the pipes in the home is not rusted, there might be a type of bacteria present in the pipes and these can make your family ill. In my opinion, I would say that one has to flush and check your piping every 10 to 20 years and if there are any issues it can be fixed or replaced if needed.

If you still live in a home that has a well where you are getting water from, you should also check the well. You could also have a look at getting a borehole and a water piping system installed straight to your home. It is always better to have a safe house than having to live in one that is killing you slowly.
