Outdated Aesthetic? 5 Thrifty Renovation Tricks to Try

Written by Posted On Wednesday, 21 February 2018 07:23

More Homeowners are choosing to stay in their homes longer. The only problem with this is that a home will start showing its age after some time, and no one wants that. The following are five simple and affordable tricks you can try to update your house.

Clean Up

Renting a pressure washer and washing the outside of your house may be enough to help improve the overall look of your home. Dirt accumulates and makes a home’s exterior look worn out, but a good cleaning could be the answer. Washing does take some time, but it is an affordable trick worth trying.

Re-Paint

Giving your home accent walls, repainting, or painting over some of your cabinets could help improve your home’s overall look. Again, this does take some time, but a fresh coat of paint could make everything look like new. Make sure you look into proper painting tutorials, or hire a specialist to ensure its done right.

Light Right

Good lighting has the power to transform a place, and you can use this power to your advantage. For example, you can install light sconces, or install crown molding with led rope lighting tucked inside the molding. These are interesting and modern ways to light a home, which may give it that face-lift or home-lift you have been hoping for. This is a relatively cheap solution that you’ll probably end up loving.

Crack the Old

It may be time to change some of the accents of your house that are normally overlooked. For example, you can have professionals replace your windows with a new set from a business like Arch Design or someone similar. You would be surprised how much windows can change a home. Granted, this is just one example. You can also change your doors, which are probably old anyways.

Update Appliances

Okay, you have updated parts of your home, which is good, but now you have to look at things inside of your house. Start by updating small appliances, such as your coffee maker or other little appliances you have around your house. The idea is to add updated touches that would make people think your home looks modern, which shouldn’t eat your money up too much.

Hopefully, some of these ideas are easy enough to implement. There are probably other things you can do that you can talk to an interior designer about. Of course, you can just peruse the Internet for additional ideas.
