Articles to help you select prefinished hardwood floors

Here is New York, we do a lot of site finished floors...or sand and refinish existing floors.  That's because our market prefers site finished floors and because the majority of houses already have hardwood floors...at least in most of the areas.

Hardwood has become so popular and is by far the preferred flooring surface here in the New York market...and for that matter all of the Mid Atlantic and Northeast, as well as the Mid West.  So now, we see people adding hardwood to additional areas such as kitchens, entryways or additions.  And, when that happens, the best way to match the wood is to use unfinished wood that you sand and refinish on site.  That way, you can match the species, grade, cut and stain color.

But, there are still many places where new hardwood is needed, especially if you live in a condo or apartment.  For these situations, prefinished hardwood is often the preference, especially if you already live there.  Moving out for a week or so (and taking care of the furniture) isn't always practical.  And, in other parts of the country, prefinished hardwoods are more of the norm.

So, I've written several helpful article to help homeowners choose the best types of prefinished hardwood floors.  If you're interested in gray hardwood flooring, this article about 13 Amazing gray hardwood floors should come in handy. Not only do I share tips for selecting hardwood floors, but I also share several great options that you can buy online.

I also wrote an article about my favorite white washed hardwood floors.  Yes, whitewashed floors have become very fashionable again.  And, due to innovations on polyurethane, they look much better now.  Part of the reason that whitewashed floors are so stylish has to do the farmhouse decor trend.  So, it's only fitting that I also have an article on that topic:  Best farmhouse style hardwood floors.

Hopefully these articles will come in handy when you or your clients are shopping for hardwood floors.
