First of all I am qualifying what is the top or best lake in West Bloomfield Michigan. It is like everything in life, it is personal preference. If you talke to any person on any of these six lakes you are going to find that they usually love their lake and would not live anywhere else. It is what they like and you may not like the lake for the same reason they do because your life style may be different. Your goals or criteria for a lake and lake home is probably a little different then theirs. When you are looking to live on an all sports lake in W Bloomfield then you may want to be on the biggest lakes in the township. Does bigger really mean the best? No, not really. Cass Lake lies in West Bloomfield. It is the biggest lake in Oakland County and some people do not like it because it is too busy. I would call all 6 of these all sports lakes in West Bloomfield upper end lakes. There will be many estate style homes on these lakes and many million dollar plus luxury lakefront homes on the lakes. In most cases you won't find a home under $350,000 unless it is a major fixer upper. If there are lots left on the lake they sometimes fetch up to $800,000 just for the lot. I recently sold a run down major fixer upper home on Cass Lake for $600,000. The buyer bought the home just for the lot and planned to tear the house down! It was an 80 ft lot. To them it might have been the best all sports lake in West Bloomfield based on closeness to their work.

Middle Straits Lake is close to the M-5 connector that gets you to I-275 and I-696 expressways. There are very few lakes that have easy access and have great schools too. Those two reasons make Middle Straits Lake a highly desirable lake for many lakefront home buyers. Middle Straits Lake does have a small public access ramp in a city park.
The children on the lake go either to Walled Lake Schools or West Bloomfield Schools.

- Union Lake homes for sale in W Bloomfield Union Lake is definitely considered to be one of Michigan’s nicest lake communities, though it is not private. Some people say this is a party lake but that is not totally true. It is not wild or loud or crazy. Yes there is a sand bar on the lake where people gather to talk, and have some cold ones. But the lake partying is not going to disturb you if you buy on the lake. With 465 acres and spacious waterfront properties, privacy and convenience can still be found on Union Lake. The lake has a maximum depth of 110 feet and its large size makes it great for all sports activities
- Lake homes for sale on Upper Straits Lake
There are less and less lake cottages left. Most have them have been torn down and bigger and newer homes have been rebuilt. It is what I would call a high end lake. There are about 210 waterfront homes on Upper Straits Lake. There is a salom ski course on the lake. Bob Seger lives on the lake. Depending on where you live on the lake the school district is either going to be Birmingham school district or Bloomfield Hills school district. There are lake laws on when you can operate a boat at high speed. The lake hours are 10 to 6:30 at night. After those house it is a no wake period.
