What should I use to protect my computer from viruses?

Written by Posted On Sunday, 28 October 2018 10:41

With the huge growth that the IT sector is currently experiencing and where only in Chile last year more than one million computers were sold among desktop PCs, notebooks and netbooks, so threats to users of them also grow.

Many people believe, almost transforming it to the level of urban myth, that if there is a virus in the computers it is because they are created by the same companies that sell you antivirus to eliminate them.

Decades of decades and nobody until now has been able to deliver a single argument that refutes or proves it, so all of us, users more, users less, we must understand that with the mere fact of turning on the computer and accessing the internet, we are exposed to be infected.

Until a few years ago they were called "virus" to everything that made us pass anger because it left us the computer useless without having another solution but to format (or pay for it).

Shortly after the same industry of security companies began to order a bit of the issue, although they still can not agree when it comes to naming an attack that is the same for everyone, but where each manufacturer gives the name he wants and with that, he confuses people.

Well of simple viruses, today we know terms like malware, trojans, hoaxs, phishing, keyloggers, spam, pop-ups, worms, e-bombers, bots, and a long etc.

Others, who have gone online to identify a "computer attack", but in the background, have the name you have, are threats that make it essential to have one of them, unless you use Apple or Linux as operating system, what for a time to this part is not 100% guarantee or synonymous of "nothing is going to happen".

The Antivirus

By definition, an antivirus program, be it from the manufacturer, is simply software that "cleans" an infected file.

In other words, your data and your computer must have been attacked so that the antivirus program starts operating and the trend (and certainly the recommended) is that this is avoided.

Years ago, many companies dedicated to selling antivirus software were criticized for leaving the computers turned into real jars for their exasperating slowness and little speed in running domestic processes, so that you, reader, can imagine what was happening in companies.

Fortunately, the industry, in general, understood that the true Bibles that they sold (and that began to get fatter in terms of installation megagrams year after year) were not being very effective or practical, so they also understood that applying technology in the then incipient " cloud "was" the solution ".

This was understood by the major manufacturers ( Symantec, McAfee, Kaspersky, ESET and others) that although they sold you an antivirus either in a box or online, this one instead of being installed full on your computer, they just started to leave the structure of the same, so that, taking advantage of the cloud, whenever it needed to be updated, the software went to the cloud, saw what was installed on the computer and updated only what was important.

Some called it "hemeroteca" .. others "historical", but in the end, it fulfilled and still does, as a method of prevention of computer infections.

Well, now understanding what an antivirus does and understanding why security software does not weigh so much today, I can tell you that you are not protected yet.

(And do not challenge me for that).

The truth is that for a device to be 100%, you need a "Security Suite" or known as " Internet Security " which is the antivirus software of which we speak, more software that acts in a pre-ven-ti -va and not after your team boils of problems.

Said in simple words, an "Internet security" protects you from threats when you are browsing certain websites or when you browse because without your knowing they install malicious programs, spyware, viruses among other things. It also prevents you from using Trojans and others. Do you know which one best suits your needs? Savenit has the best antivirus software for mac for you.

In the second part of this chapter dedicated to security, we will mention what are the different options, between payment and free on this option, but for now, stay tuned ... we are back!
