Hills Moving Inc Shares 7 Recipes to Avoid When Moving

When moving to a new house, more so when the neighborhood is a distance away from your current location, the last thing that you’ll want to think about is food. But frankly, it’s important to know what you’ll eat before you move and when you get to your new home. When it comes to the meals that you should prepare, especially the morning that you are moving, any light recipe will work—provided that it’s nutritious enough to take you through the day.

The problem is often with what to carry. Since your freezer will be disconnected when you move, you have to think of a way to get rid of the perishables without throwing them away. In this case, you have to come up with a recipe that will include the perishables. While thinking of the recipe, you also need to consider that you won’t be carrying the food since you don’t have a way to keep it in good condition until you settle in your new home.

We talked to Hills Moving, and here are 7 recipes that they suggested you should avoid preparing when moving – unless it’s the day before or the morning before you move.

  1. Fajitas

If you are having frozen chicken in your freezer compartment and some diced tomatoes, all you need extra to make fajitas are pepper, chili powder, salt, and some butter or cooking oil. Just fry the chicken and add pepper and chili powder. Cook for a few minutes till tender before adding diced tomatoes and salt to taste. Eat everything up the day before or give the leftover out.

  1. Fruit Toast

If you have some bread left and some fruit-flavored yogurt or fresh fruits, you can make fruit toast. The fresh fruit or flavored yogurt is used as a spread. You shouldn’t carry the toast since it will go bad before you even get to your destination. Just make what is enough. If the leftover bread pieces are more, then consider offering some to your neighbors.

  1. Omelet

An omelet is a great idea if you want to stay full for the day. It’s a great way to get rid of remaining onions, greens, and cheese. Just throw them into a frying pan to cook for a few minutes. In the meantime, break a couple of eggs into a bowl and add sauce. Mix before pouring into the frying pan. Remember to make just enough so that you don’t throw it away.

  1. Pasta

Pasta takes about 15 minutes to prepare and you can cook it the morning before you move. Just do not carry any as it will be a waste. You need to boil the remaining noodles and add sauce. If you have meat or vegetables remaining, add them before you serve.

  1. Meat Soup

This recipe is another great way of getting rid of leftover tomatoes, carrots, onions, potatoes, and meat. You need to fry the meat over medium heat and add some onions, tomatoes, carrots, and potatoes at intervals. When they are cooked, add some water and bring it to a boil.

  1. Loaded Quesadillas

This recipe allows you to get rid of remaining meat, cheese, and sauce. Just set your skillet over medium heat and fry your meat. Add the toppings and cook till the meat is tender.

  1. Salad

Lastly, you should make use of the remaining fruits, greens, or cheese to make your favorite salad. Just don’t carry any because salads go bad easily.

The above recipes are great to prepare before you move to a new house. They enable you to get rid of the perishables from your freezer. Nevertheless, you shouldn’t carry the food to where you are going as they will have gone bad by the time you get there.
