Backyard Pool a Bit Bare? 4 Ways to Customize Your Swimming Space

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 04 December 2018 10:28

Like anything, interest in your backyard pool may wane. Sometimes the family just gets bored with the standard diving boards and pool hoops. However, owning a pool is not cheap—there are numerous maintenance costs involved—so you want to get the most out of it. There are a few simple renovations you can make to your pool to make it more appealing. If your backyard pool is a bit bare, there are four ways to customize your swimming space.

Enhancing Your Back Patio
Your back patio is the gateway to your pool area. This area holds your BBQ, food, beverages, reclining areas, and more. Adding a flat screen TV or a Luxaflex awning to your back patio can get your friends and family out of the living room and into the pool. Other popular choices include island BBQs, built-in refrigerators, kegerators, and more.

Pool Landscaping
This item occasionally gets overlooked by pools owners. Some people will build the perfect patio, awesome pool toys, and amazing kitchen setups—but will forget basic landscaping. You want poolside plants to compliment your personal style while also not being sticky or sharp-things people can get caught on when they jump out of the pool. Certain plants will have trouble growing near salt water or chlorinated water, so consult an online resource or someone with a green thumb before you plant anything in the vicinity.

Buying a Pool Enclosure
Depending on what part of the country you live in, a year-round pool might not be an option. Those are multiple months that your family is getting no use out of your pool whatsoever. Purchase a pool enclosure to brighten the space while also having the effect of being able to be used more months out of the year.

Buy a Hot Tub for Post-Pool Relaxation
Everybody loves a hot tub! No pool setup is complete without a hot tub to jump in after a long day of swimming. Hot tubs also have many therapeutic and physical benefits, so putting in a hot tub will not only help customize the space, but may even make you and your family a little healthier. Not to mention the hot tub margaritas!

Brightening up your backyard pool will provide hours of enjoyment for you and your family. But there are other possible benefits as well—appraisers will take into account your backyard pool setup when determining a valuation for your home, and beautifying the area could actually make you money!
