Your carpet is the one item in your home that is highly prone to stains. Stains may be as a result of beverage spills, pet soils, food stains, mud, and many other things. Apart from these, your carpet may also get stained as a result of water spills. As the water dries out, it leaves small sediment traces on the surface. Fortunately, removing water stains from carpet is no difficult task. The following are steps that will aid you in removing water stains from carpet using a cleaning solution.

Removing Water Stains From Carpet - Simple Steps

The Items You Need:

  • - 2 pieces of cloth

- Paper towels

- Water

- 2 spray bottles

- Strong Cleaning Detergent

The Process

Step 1: Put one cup of water into one of the spray bottles and add a 1/4 tsp of cleaning detergent. Allow the water and the detergent to mix. You will end up with an effective solution to remove even the harshest water stains. Be careful not to put too much detergent so that you don't end up damaging your carpet.

Step 2: Take a piece of cloth and using the spray bottle, spray the cleaning solution onto the piece of cloth. However, take care not to over-saturate the cloth because it can make things go from bad to worse.

Step 3: Now take the piece of cloth containing the cleaning solution and press it gently against the stain. After dabbing for several times, you'll see that the stain is breaking up. As the stain breaks up, use the dry part of the cloth to dab the stain. Continue until the stain has completely vanished. Note: During this step, you only need to dab, not rub. Rubbing will put you at the risk of spreading the stain to other parts of the carpet.

Step 4: Take the second piece of cloth and dampen it with clean water. Be careful not to soak the cloth with the water. What we want to do is get rid of the water stains without soaking the carpet. Dab the affected area again to remove the cleaning solution left behind. Dab until you're sure that the cleaning solution is completely off the carpet.

Step 5: After the stain and cleaning solution are completely off the carpet, it's now time to dry the affected area. Drying ensures that this part doesn't attract dust and forms stains again. Take a few paper towels and press them against the damp area. For excellent results, you can place a heavy item on top of the paper towels and leave them to absorb the dampness overnight.

Step 6: The area has already dried up and if not, only a small amount of moisture is left. To remove this moisture, sprinkle some baking soda on the affected part. It'll absorb the moisture and ensure that your carpet smells nice. Let the baking soda sit for at least 3 hours and vacuum that area.

Hopefully, this has solved your problem. With the best cleaning techniques and products, you'll be able to get rid of even the most stubborn stains. Use the above steps, and you'll leave your carpet looking the way it did before the spillage took place. Using the simple steps to removing water stains from carpet above will ensure your carpet restoration.
