Sale of the Summer: How to Prep Your Home for Buyers

Written by Posted On Thursday, 14 March 2019 12:56

When it comes to selling your home, there’s a lot more work that needs to be done than just hiring a realtor and putting the sign up in the yard. Much like any sale, you need to make the item you’re selling look good. In order to make that sale, here are a few tips on how to prepare your home for potential buyers.

Research Home Values

Another step that you should take before you settle on a price for your home is to look at the home values around your area. It can help you determine if it’s a buyer’s or seller’s market. Can you raise the price a bit more than what the house is actually worth? Do you need to lower it? By doing research, you can find the right price that will make your home sell fast.

Add Fresh Flowers

Staging your home is an important part of selling it. While you don’t want to overdo it, you do want to make it look as though your home is perfect for anyone. One easy way to do this, besides cleaning your home, is to add flowers. Again, you shouldn’t make the inside of your home a garden, but by placing fresh flowers in certain places of your home, you can make it look classy and well-cared for. Just be sure that you change out those flowers every few days. Wilting flowers won’t give the best impression.

Exteriors

First impressions are everything when it comes to making sales. For your home, the exterior and landscaping are going to be the two main variables for forming that first impression. If your house has peeling paint and your yard is full of weeds, then you can be sure that those buyers are going to drive on by. Take the time to power wash your home or add a new coat of paint. Do a bit of landscaping cleanup, invest in lawn installation, and grow some healthy, colorful plants to make the exterior of your home look like it could be in a magazine.

Limit Clutter

Be sure to clear out the clutter. You want sellers to believe that they can easily fit their lives into your space. Taking personal and excess objects out of your home will leave room for imagination and possibility—exactly what you want your potential buyers to see and find in your space.

Selling your home can sometimes be quite difficult. With these tips, you can better your chances of making the sale and moving out with money in-hand.
