Why Headshots Matter for Realtors, and How To Ensure Yours Work

Some realtors love getting their photos taken for professional purposes while others hate it, and some realtors get one photo when they’re first getting started out and then use that for their whole careers! It’s never good to have a headshot that’s outdated because even though you may feel as though you still look like that person, your clients aren’t necessarily going to agree. This can many times put client relationships off on a shaky start, and that’s never a good thing!

Headshots can help lead you to sales, so they’re essentially a very valuable asset to your repertoire as a realtor, and because almost 80% of all homebuyers are searching online it’s going to help you out a lot with a great first impression online through a great picture.

There’s a certain sense of honesty that goes into a nice headshot in the real estate world, and this is going to help set you apart when it comes to people searching online for potential hiring candidates. That doesn’t mean that qualifications and experience don’t matter, but if you have a website listing of all your qualifications but no photo then it just seems a little odd.

We’re very fortunate to have teamed up with a reputable orthodontist dublin ohio, and although having a perfect smile isn’t the most important aspect of having a good headshot and driving in more leads it does help. A lot of adults in the professional world, including the real estate field, have started choosing Invisalign to help them with any crooked teeth and smile issues. It’s a great way to get the results of traditional braces without having to make that oral treatment noticeable at all.

Here are some other tips to help you ensure that your headshot is perfect!

Go Pro

What we mean by this is not use a GoPro camera, but to actually hire a professional photographer to come do your headshot for you. It’s a huge shame if you let a bad photograph of yourself ruin your chances when it comes to earning more clients and sales. And when it comes down to it, it actually is very unprofessional to use a low quality image or a selfie as your professional realtor headshot.

Background Matters!

The primary focus of the picture has to be you, and that means you’ll need to keep this in mind when you are choosing your background. Some people like the idea of a colorful, pretty outdoor background, but it actually can be detrimental in terms of distracting the headshot viewer’s eyes away from you. Typically solid, neutral colors are what works best for backgrounds.

Your Smile

We understand that not everyone has perfect smiles, but all of us can smile perfectly. A perfect smile means being natural and comfortable in front of the camera, which is a lot easier said than done. But when it comes down to it a good smile always conveys a more approachable sense that will help you out much more than a solemn, professional glance for your headshot.

One good tip to help you with your on-camera smiling is to think about something or someone who makes you laugh or very happy. When you think about this person you’ll exude a very great emotion outwardly, which can be picked up by a good photographer who can then extenuate your eyes.

Be Confident

All realtors want their headshots to show potential clients that they are trustworthy and the right realtor for the job or listing. A lot of people get nervous in front of camera, but you’re going to want to make sure that you are conveying a confident, professional, friendly vibe to your headshot shoot.

One good tip to help you be more confident in front of a camera is to do some power poses before the camera is pointed at you. By doing these certain poses you can psychologically pump yourself up for the right type of energy that’s needed to convey a confident realtor who kicks butt when it comes to selling houses.
