The term HVAC means heating, ventilation and air conditioning. The air conditioning system is quite a complex one. If you are one of those who are quite interested about this system but don’t know much about it, then you are at the right place. Here are some of the facts regarding the air conditioning for beginners:

Air Conditioning For Beginners - How an AC Really Works

#1: The furnace

This takes up a lot of space in your HVAC system. It is usually placed in the basement and it is one of the most important components. The furnace can move the air into the air ducts from the heat exchanger. This furnace is often confused with the boilers but these two are different.

#2: Heat exchanger

The heat exchanger is not one of the parts of the furnace. This heat exchanger is located inside the furnace and it has some of its capabilities. This is responsible for adding heat to the incoming air from the combustion chamber.

#3: The evaporator coil

This is also one of the parts of the furnace. But it is responsible for handling a different job. The refrigerant runs through this evaporator coil where it absorbs the heat from the passing air. Then it blows off the cold air through the air ducts.

#4: The condensing unit

This unit is quite the same like that of the evaporator coil but it is for the outdoor HVAC unit. This condensing unit is located inside a cube-shaped unit and it is responsible for exchanging heat with the passing air. But the condensing unit actually gives off heat, unlike that of the evaporator coil.

#5: The refrigerant tubes

The refrigerant tubes are metal tubes that can connect the condensing coil with the evaporator. That means the tubes connect the outdoor and indoor HVAC units together. The tubes can contain cooling refrigerant.

#6: Thermostat

This is one of the most familiar parts of your HVAC system. Depending on what the temperature that you set, the thermostat will be able to turn on the air conditioner or the heating system for attaining the right temperature.

#7: Ductwork

This is another vital part of the air conditioning system. It is mainly responsible for moving the air throughout your home. Air comes through some of the sections of the ductwork and enters into the HVAC system. It can also be distributed to other rooms through sections.

#8: The vents

When the air travels through the ductwork, the air enters into the room through some vents. The rectangular covers on the ceiling or on the floor can direct as well as take the air.

Final words

So, these are the different parts of the air conditioning for beginners. All these components and their functionalities are important, especially to ensure that your HVAC system is working properly all the time. Each component of this system relies on each other for properly functioning. When these components work together, your system can function very efficiently. You need to call an expert of HVAC in case you want to diagnose the problem or fix any problem.
