Bathroom Cleaning Tips and Tricks

Some bathroom cleaning tips and tricks to know include polishing chrome fixtures with baby oil, using alka seltzer, bleach and baking soda to your advantage and more to clean a messy house

Baby Oil

Is your faucet looking a tad dirty and grimy? How about all the other chrome fixtures in your bathroom?

The best and the most effortless way to bring them to a high polish is by using a dab of baby oil and a clean cloth. Apply a small amount and start rubbing the chrome for a new-like finish. Do this until all the fixtures are spotless and sparkling bright.

Alka Seltzer

Alka Seltzer tablets aren't just good for indigestion- turns out, they can unclog your drains in a pinch.

Here's what you can do. Drop a tablet or two down the drain and follow it up with a cup of vinegar. Wait for around 10 minutes for the chemical to do its work, then follow it up with a kettle full of boiling water. Test it and you'll find that the blockage is no longer there. This is also a kitchen cleaning hack if you have a clogged sink.

Bleach & Baking Soda

Need an easy way to clear out the grime, dirt and stains that pervade hard-to-reach grout material? You can turn to old-fashioned favorites baking soda and bleach to restore them to their original, presentable selves.

Make a paste mixture of 1/4 bleach and 3/4 baking soda and apply to the grout. Wait for 30 minutes, then remove it using a cloth or a scrubbing brush. You'll have tiles that are good as new. You can also use this household tip to clean other tiled areas around your home.

Vinegar

A vinegar soak can take care of a dirty showerhead. Wrap up the head with a plastic full of vinegar, tie it up and secure it while you clean up the rest of the bathroom. Then, when you're ready just remove the plastic bag and wipe the grime off easily using a clean and damp microfiber cloth.

Black Tea

Tea is an excellent beverage, but it can also make your bathroom mirrors spotless and shiny again.

Some homeowners hate the idea of cleaning up their mirrors because it takes a lot of time and effort. Glass cleaners and a squeegee can do the trick, but why bother when you can do the same thing with black tea?

Prepare a pot, a cup or a saucepan of hot water and put in a few bags of black tea. Allow the mixture to cool, then apply it directly or spray it on your bathroom mirror. The tannic acid instantly dissolves dirt and de-fogs all the water stains and debris. Wipe up with a cloth afterwards.

Bottom Line

These are just a few bathroom cleaning tips and tricks using everyday household products you should know about. The next time you plan on cleaning one of the dirtiest and most-visited parts of your home, don't forget to take a shortcut and clean house tips if it means saving time if you’re working full time and effort while achieving sparkling results.
