Reasons to Stay at a Hotel During Your Move

When making a long-distance move it’s not uncommon to end up spending a few nights at a hotel or two while everything gets sorted out. Sure, you may have quite a few temporary housing options to choose from while everything falls into place. Some people choose to stay with relatives, others rent out places for a short stay, and some even go for hostels. If some of these options aren’t viable for you and a hotel is what you end up choosing, then it’s your right to make the most out of it. Here are a few of the positives you can get out of staying at a hotel.

Entertainment

The good thing about hotels is that they usually provide great sources of entertainment. Many hotels often host events that are open for their guests to attend. These can be quite a few things ranging from karaoke nights to live performances by local, or well-known singers and performers. It’s common for a lot of hotels to have a casino, so if you’re a casual fan of gambling you can always head inside and play a round of poker, craps or aim for some mindless entertainment on the slot machines. If crowds aren’t your thing but you still want to satisfy your gambling itch, you can try your luck at the online casino. Some hotels might have their own online casinos that might offer special bonuses and an even wider selection of games than you can find at their traditional casino options.

Hotels with dining areas can be a great way for you to rekindle your romance on a nice quiet date, or if you have kids, bring them along and treat yourself to a family dinner. It’s good to get your mind off things for a while before getting back in the groove of setting up your new home.

Security

Since you’re making a big move, you might have a few valuables with you that you don’t trust the movers with like jewelry or simply some emergency cash. In a hotel, you can be sure that you can find a safe place to keep your valuables and put your mind at ease. Hotels often provide rooms that come with a locked safe for guests. You should check with the hotel first, as not all rooms may come with one but once it’s all arranged you’ll feel a lot more comfortable about your stay.

Another thing to keep in mind is that hotels are often very well secured. They have 24/7 surveillance of the surrounding building which extends to the parking lot, so if you’re bringing some things in the car with you then this can be of assurance. If you’re still worried about the security of your items, look up a hotel that has extra measures set up such as guards or alarms. This way the risk of something being stolen is significantly reduced and if by chance that it does happen, getting the items back will be easier thanks to the security camera footage.
