What You Need to Know About Temporary HVAC Rental

There may come a time when you need a temporary HVAC solution to a cooling problem at an industrial site, such as your business premises. Even though it’s a decision to fix a short-term problem, the wrong choice can be costly as well as a waste of time.

There are factors that you should consider before deciding which HVAC equipment you should rent. By following a simple process, you can get the system you need without any waste or delay.

Establish compliance issues before you start

Before you even start thinking about the temporary HVAC rental options at your disposal, you should study any legislation and regulations that apply to your situation. There may be several restrictions that apply to the context or environment.

Some of these relate to working in hazardous environments, sterile situations, and workspaces where a high degree of cleanliness is necessary, such as the food and pharmaceutical industries. Given the recent raft of legislation about carbon emissions, you should also ensure that the unit you’re renting won’t put you on the wrong side of the authorities.

Take a look at the overall situation

Before even contacting an HVAC rental company, make sure you have the big picture. This includes knowing how long you’ll be needing the equipment. This is critical information for the rental company because it must ensure that it has the equipment available during the timeframe in which you require it.

This, of course, would apply in the ideal situation, which is not often the case. Often, you cannot book the rental weeks in advance as you would for planned maintenance because an emergency occurs.

Most portable air conditioner rental queries arise because of malfunctioning existing units. The temporary solution the rental presents will allow for the maintenance, repair, or replacement process to go ahead without affecting normal operations.

From the chilling tonnage of the unit that is out of action, you’ll have an idea of the capacity of the HVAC system you need.

However, you can save the company some money by calculating your required capacity and deduct the remaining capacity, excluding the faulty unit to see how much chilling tonnage you truly need. The final calculation might be less than you’d think, and a smaller unit rental will cost you less money.

Evaluate available space

Getting the chilling unit that supplies enough capacity for the space you’re working in is important but equally critical is making sure you have the space to house it. There may be spatial constraints that affect what type of unit you’ll be able to rent.

Before contacting the rental company, measure the available space and lay it out diagrammatically so that you can forward a picture to them.

You should also note how far away the cooling site is from the location of the unit. A longer distance could complicate matters, and the rental company should know about that in advance to avoid unnecessary hiccups and delays.

Older buildings tend to offer more obstacles as they weren’t built with HVAC systems in mind. However, rental companies come up with creative solutions for you, provided you give them the right specifications.

Determine your electrical capacity

Your electrical system and how much power it provides is another essential component of the decision about renting an HVAC unit. If this is not your area of expertise, get the information from the relevant people at the site.

The electrical capacity is a critical factor in the final decision about which type of unit the rental company will recommend. It could also determine whether you’ll need additional power generation equipment for the duration of the rental.
