5 Home Improvement Projects To Improve The Valuation Of Your Home

Posted On Monday, 07 December 2020 21:41

With most of us spending an extraordinary amount of time at home because of the pandemic, a few new considerations have emerged.

According to leading real estate experts, people are-

• Looking for newer and bigger home spaces that include big gardens and more rooms to live in and work from.
• Renovating existing areas in the house as a renovation project simply because they are now paying attention to the same.
• Investing in adding rooms, sections, and other living spaces within existing households creating mini offices and hobby areas.

To give you an example, for the past ten months, I have been working from home. This has allowed me some additional time to look around different areas of the house. I have seen everything from cobwebs to soiled wooden floorings.

Thankfully, the pandemic allowed me the time to take care of these and I am proud to say that my house is in its best shape ever!

Why the Pandemic has forced Families to engage with Home Renovation Projects?

As we have already mentioned in the opening paragraphs, a majority of people are now spending time at home. Earlier we would just be spending a few hours at the max at our homes. The rest of the time would be dedicated to our office, travel, and outside. Entertainment.

With the pandemic, we are working from home, social distancing norms mean that we are entertaining within the safe boundaries of our house, and travel has literally gone out of the window.

With more time and in some cases the necessity of having a new extra room, people are investing in home renovation projects on a larger scale.

List of 5 Home Renovation Projects to Improve the Valuation of your Home

1. Garden Deck-

According to a leading deck builder Brisbane, people are investing in transforming their garden and backyard spaces into something beautiful, useful, and valuable. This is why most families are looking to create decks in their gardens. This allows them to entertain guests in the house, as well as give some extra real estate to family members who prefer working on the deck.

2. Kitchen Upgradation-

We can all attest to the fact that most of us are now having three proper meals in the house. This means spending an awfully long time in the kitchen, cooking, experimenting, and even taking meals. Kitchen renovations by way of adding new appliances, changing storage spaces, or simply flipping the kitchen counter are being done by a host of families during the pandemic.

3. Bathroom Renovations-

Again, like the kitchen, the bathroom is also one area of the house which we are using a lot. To be honest, bathroom renovation projects are exciting. Having a nice new bathtub for relaxation, changing the wall colors, and adding a bit of greenery to the bathroom can work wonders in helping you start your day with high spirits.

4. New Home Office-

Yes, this is not a luxury, but a necessity during the times we live in. Unlike your office cabin, your drawing room can trouble you with many distractions. Shouting family members, screaming kids, and noisy neighbors are just a few of the many bloopers your WFH reel would come in. Many people are creating new mini offices in the basement, or the garage area.

5. Designated Hobby and Entertainment Areas-

Going to the arcade or the amusement park is still not a very safe option during the pandemic. A better way to have fun would be to turn your basement area into an entertainment zone. Throw in a couple of arcade games, ping pong tables, foosball, a large screen to play video games and you have your own entertainment zone!

The Final Word

While all the above renovations can help create a more amiable personal living space, it serves another great purpose. It helps in increasing the valuation of your house many times over. If and when you are looking to sell, you can expect to command a far higher market value than other homes in the locality.
