Your home is likely your biggest asset so naturally you want to make sure that you are doing everything to can to not only maintain its value but increase it whenever possible. With home renovations gaining in popularity there is no shortage of ideas for projects but know what makes sense for your specific property might take a little more finesse than a quick internet search. Sometimes all you need to bump up your home’s status is a few aesthetic touches, other times a more significant investment is going to be the best way to make an impact on the value of your home. Either way be sure that you are considering what these changes are going to mean for your overall property value before you start swinging hammers around.

Unique and Functional Upgrades

There is no doubt that kitchens and bathrooms are the two first places that homeowners typically go to when they are considering a remodel. These two rooms are important and certainly present a great opportunity to elevate your home, but they are predictable. If you want to invest in your home in a way that not only helps to add value, but also makes it unique consider something special like an in-home elevator.

Although a home elevator is not typical it is certainly for all intents and purposes, practical. Not only can popular home elevators bump up your property value they can future proof your home so that the need for stairs becomes irrelevant. This type of addition does not always mean a huge project either. Depending on your specific home, the model that you select, and your budget, one can be installed in a way that compliments the existing aesthetic which is also a plus for value.

Piece by Piece

The scale of your project will be a determining factor in the timeline, but that does not mean that your entire end goal must be achieved via one big, massive overhaul. Consider making a master list of everything you would love to upgrade in and around your home and tackle it piece by piece. This strategy can also be beneficial for your budget because likely not every project will need to be financed. Making a list will also help you to determine if you should finance or if you should develop a savings strategy that will allow you to pay out of pocket.

Get Outside

Property value is not dictated exclusively by what is inside the home. The entire property is evaluated and considered when determining the total worth. If you want to increase your homes value think about what you can improve outside your four walls to achieve that goal. Landscaping, outdoor entertainment areas, and even the material used on your room are all examples of factors that impact value that are not technically inside the home. The realty term for this is curb appeal and professionals will tell you that how a home looks on the outside can have a huge impact on the overall perception of the home.
