Making Your New Home Secure - Protect Your Property

New technology has given rise to new ways to protect your property, namely improved alarm systems for everything from traditional doorbell systems that link to your phone, office security systems that can be activated remotely, all the way to flooding alarms.

Speakers in Security Systems

New ways to keep your home safe include speakers that are built into your security systems. These speakers are designed to coincide with an active security company or even your active participation via your smartphone. They are installed usually near the doorbell so that you can communicate directly with anyone who is on your property who shouldn't be and give them warning that they need to leave immediately or the police will be called. Hearing an actual voice can serve as a great deterrent for potential burglars who typically only target homes where people are not home.

Smartlocks

New smart locks are an increasingly advanced form of new home security that allow you to protect your property no matter where you are. These smart locks come in many forms, some of which have digital keypads that include different codes to gain access into the home and to lock the doors when you leave. Smart locks like these give bigger families a safer way to change the locks without having to get new keys made whenever their family comes into town or when they have guests, or even when they go out of town and need to provide access to a neighbor who is checking in on the property or the pets.  These smart locks can also link to your smartphone with the ability to lock and unlock doors from a distance. If you are out of town and need to give your children or your neighbor access, you can activate a door from your phone and then lock everything up when your neighbor or children leave.

If you have video connected to your phone, then you can see what is going on at your property even when you are on vacation. This comes in handy not just for protecting your home against things like burglary but for making sure your packages are not stolen from the front porch before you get home from work. Moreover, if you are out of town for a few days on a business trip or even a few weeks, you can check in on every room in which the cameras are installed, every part of your property, and verify that not just has your home been protected but any exterior buildings like sheds, and any cars that have been left in the driveway.

Peel Alarms

Stick and peel locks are becoming a very common way to protect your property at a reasonable cost. Instead of installing official alarm systems routed through an alarm company at every single door and window, peel and stick alarms can be placed on sliding glass doors or windows facing the street, even windows all around the first story of your home. They can be turned on or off at any point and when they are on, should that window or door be opened they will emit a loud and piercing alarm.

Home Flooding Alarm Systems

Home flooding alarm systems, as the name suggests, are alarm systems that work very similarly to things like smoke detectors but for the presence of water.  These water leak sensors are affixed to different faucets or water fixtures in your home after which they can assess your water system and look for issues like leaks. Once a leak is found, the sensors can signal to immediately shut off the water valve to prevent flooding. This activation happens regardless of your presence in the home.   Water leakage and flooding is one of the most common causes of damage in American Homes. Most people only focus on the damage caused by serious floods brought about during a natural disaster but flooding can be triggered by a multitude of otherwise minor issues including:

1. A burst water pipe within the walls
2. A clogged toilet
3. A broken water supply line
4. Faulty water heaters

You can have a residential locksmith install a home flooding alarm system. A residential locksmith can install not only the control panel but the wireless sensors throughout each room in your house. These sensors have to be fitted around the areas where water damage is statistically most likely to take place and these include places like inside each bathroom, under the kitchen sink, and inside a water heater closet.
