How To Find A Laborer To Do The Heavy Lifting For Your Home Improvement Project Without Paying A Fortune

Written by Posted On Saturday, 23 July 2016 05:29

Not everyone is cut out for home improvement projects, but if you are avoiding them because you don’t have the strength to get things done, or just aren’t steady enough on your feet to get up on a ladder, there are ways around the torture. Even if you want to do it yourself, there is no shame in hiring someone to do the things that are either miserable or that you just aren’t capable of doing. Sometimes the small amount that it would cost to hire out is well worth it. When doing manual labor, sometimes it is beneficial to consider how much your time is worth.

The problem with hiring a home improvement contractor or furnace installation in Winnipeg, is that it may not always take a professional. There are ways to hire people simply to do the heavy lifting and not paying the exuberant costs for a skilled laborer. The less qualified the candidate, likely, the less they will charge. There are ways to find reliable people who are willing to work hard and don’t think they are worth more than you have to pay. If you want to find someone purely to do labor intensive tasks around the house, there are some venues to use that will get you the right person.

Craigslist

Craigslist is an excellent way to find someone who you can hire for a short time or small gig, and that includes labor and heavy lifting. Not only are there a ton of people posting for hire on the site, but you can also post your own project with ease. Often, laborers will be willing to take a position on a short time basis and even work alongside you, which is a huge advantage. Most will take money per hour, which is negotiable, and they can take care of those little things you either can’t or don’t want to. That gives you the freedom to focus on the things that you are good at and let someone else take care of the rest for very little cost. The best part is that Craigslist is completely free to use.

Snagajob

A small site that is gaining in popularity is Snagajob. Solely dedicated to labor for hire, it is an excellent way to hire for short term help. Helping unite both employees with employers, it is a great forum to make a connection either with a company in your area or an individual. Sometimes it behooves you to hire out a professional service. They may cost more, but you are ensured that someone will show, and a private company will carry insurance in case something happens. Many also screen their applicants so that you know who is coming into your home.

Local college and universities

If you live near a local university of college, they will often have a job board that you can post to. Colleges are the best place to look to get unskilled labor. They are happy to have a job and are almost always looking for a little extra cash. Sometimes you can go to their website, and they will have a jobs board section. If not, simply call the administration, and find out if they have a way that you can post a job on their forum.

Social media sites

Many social media sites will let you post positions to hire someone in the area. Social sites are a great way to find someone who has a connection to your existing contacts. That takes the guesswork out of wondering who you are hiring to work in your home.

It is always risky to hire someone to help out, especially when they are working in your home. If you want to find someone who isn’t going to cost a fortune, but will be honest, conscientious and professional, that isn’t always as easy as it seems.

Whoever you hire, make sure to check on references and, when possible, go the extra step to find out a little about them. Doing a Google search, and following up on the information they supply to you, can save you a lot of heartache in the end. You don’t have to suffer through the horrible parts of home improvement. There are many hardworking and willing participants to help you get the “dirty work” out of the way.
