Discover the Joy of Relocating

We humans are often creatures of habit. We like our routines, shy away from change and enjoy laying down roots and calling our house a home. For many, staying in the same area their entire lives is a positive thing, but not everyone likes the status quo. If you’re feeling adventurous and looking for a new adventure, you could do a lot worse than completely relocating.

Diane Von Furstenberg famously said “The most important relationship you can ever have is with yourself”, and if you’re considering embarking on a path of self-discovery there are far better ways than to up sticks and move to a completely new area. You’ll be forced into getting out there and making friends, and you’ll be able to break free from some of the people and opinions who you may feel have been holding you back. Embarking on an adventure like this is a sure way to really find yourself, and as they say, “if you can’t love yourself then how are you gonna love anyone else?!”

Rellocation

Moving away will almost certainly make you flourish as a person; it will make you more independent, broaden your horizons and even create a whole new identity. As Battersea estate agent, Eden Harper says “Some very successful people have relocated simply by sticking a pin in a map. That’s a bold decision that’s not for the faint hearted, but if you’re up for the challenge you’ll learn an incredible amount about yourself.”

Although the “stick a pin in a map” approach is often more popular with twenty somethings full of life and adventure, it’s not just the Millennials who want a slice of the relocation action. Proskips says “We often work with older people who have decided to move to a completely new area. Sometimes it’s because of work or family circumstances, but sometimes it’s simply because they want a totally new perspective on life. It might seem scary for some, but it can often give someone a completely new lease of life.”

Andrew Reeves agrees- “ It’s never too late to start your own big adventure. If you’ve ever dreamed of living by the sea or moving from town to country, it’s almost always doable. All it takes is planning, preparation and the confidence to make it happen.” Of course, there are financial costs to consider and moving house isn’t cheap, but if you sit down and make a good plan there’s no reason why you can’t find a way to make it happen if you’re looking to start afresh.

Whether you’re a home body who likes the familiarity and security of having friends and family nearby, or someone who’s looking for their next big adventure, there’s no right or wrong. But if you’ve always dreamed of starting a brand new life somewhere totally different you owe it to yourself to think about ways to make it work- you only live once after all!
