Man caves aren’t just for men, we’re seeing an increasing interest in the she-shed too so why not create an outdoor space for both of you to enjoy!

5 Practical Uses For An Outdoor Man Cave

1. A bar on your doorstep

Ok so its actually a drinks fridge in the shed at the bottom of your garden, but there's something quite romantic and fun about enjoying a beer with your other half on a couple of lazy boys.  Put your favourite music on and relax away from the chores of the house! You can even turn it into a theme - how about a Tikki Bar or Wild West style with cowhides and leather sofas. Budget depending of course but the possibilities are endless.

2. A Reading Retreat

Cut off from the house, an outdoor man cave is the best place to read in peace. Simply put up a few shelves and invest in a comfy chair. If you’re a real bookworm you could even put up floor to ceiling shelving and display your books as part of the décor.

3. Exercise Room

Even if your space isn't big enough to accommodate large gym equipment, you should still have room for a yoga mat and a few dumbbells. You could even set up your ipad and follow a workout video without the chance of the rest of the household bursting in on you. You can easily learn how to do yoga with Yoga Basics, this way you can relax and exercise at the same time without leaving your home!

4. Poker Night

Poker isn't just for men - think desperate housewives! If you've never played before, then print off the hand rankings and learn the ropes with your friends. Use chips to keep things light hearted - you'll be surprised how much fun you'll have! If your space is large enough for a few guests then you could even put on your own casino themed soirée with a few decorations.

5. DIY Home Cinema

If your man cave is in the garage, you can easily erect a white sheet up on one of the walls and watch your favourite flicks via a projector. For a low budget DIY job, simply buy a few bean bags and frame some of your favourite movie posters. This is a great way to test the water of how much you’d actually use a home cinema – if it proves a hit you can gradually upgrade and fix a proper screen or even invest in some retro style cinema seats! This is one man cave that the whole family can enjoy!
