How to Make a DIY Vortex Fountain | Easy Tutorial

Vortex fountain is one of the most popular water features which are adored by many homeowners. Its sophisticated and stunning look will give a unique touch to your home décor wherever you place it.

 

As the name suggests, vortex fountain is characterized by the water which moves in whirlpool or vortex pattern inside a tall glass. The water swirls endlessly so it’s definitely enjoyable to watch.

In the market, vortex fountain is offered at quite expensive price, so you have to spend more budgets if you want to have it set in your house. But, don’t worry, you can simply make a vortex fountain at home by using cheap materials all by yourself.

DIY Vortex Fountain Tutorial

Prepare these materials:

  • Clear Acrylic Cylindrical Vase
  • Decorative Plastic Bowl
  • PVC Clear Tubing
  • Micro Submersible Motor Pump
  • 24 mm DC Micro Motor
  • 3-inch PVC Pipe (cut to about 5 cm tall)
  • Decorative Rocks

Prepare these tools:

  • Hot Stick Iron
  • Scissor or Grill
  • Glue Gun

What you need to do:

  • Use the hot stick iron to make a hole on the outer edge of the bottom of the acrylic vase. Make sure that the hole fits the clear tubing properly.
  • Insert the tubing and leave two inches of it inside the acrylic vase. Secure it by using the glue gun.
  • Use the scissor to make a smaller hole on the center of the bottom of the acrylic vase. If the vase is too thick, you can use the drill. This hole will work to flow the water through the vase.
  • The PVC pipe will be used as the base of the acrylic vase. You need make some holes by using the hot stick iron so the water can flow through.
  • Glue-gun the pipe on the center of the decorative bowl.
  • Glue-gun the acrylic vase on the pipe, make sure that it sits evenly.
  • Attach the micro submersible pump to the PVC tubing. Place it under the acrylic vase. Secure the pump and the wire by using glue-gun.
  • Place some decorative rocks to cover the pipe, pump, and the tubing.
  • Fill the bowl with water, make sure that the amount of water is enough to glow the water to the vase and go back properly.
  • Try to run the fountain and enjoy it!

This DIY vortex fountain is totally easy to make and will not cost you a lot. It looks so admirable to enhance the attractiveness of your porch, patio, living room, and other spots since it’s so easy to carry away everywhere.
