Doing Things Yourself - Does It Always Pay Off?

If you're the type to do-it-yourself projects, that’s great. But does it always save you time and money. Sometimes you need to weigh what’s more important money or time, and yes I have heard both. I do agree that if a project has a useful purpose for a later time in the near future…I say go for it. But do consider the limitations.

Not all projects should be tossed into the equation of doing it yourself. For those who prefer the For- Sale- By- Owner method, isn't likely to be a wise choice for most people. Although many have sold a home, however, many consumers have said how daunting and stressful it really was, and would choose to hire a professional next time around.

Shopping for a home or selling a home requires knowledge about the industry, the neighborhood, marketing, negotiation, home staging, and more. Most consumers simply don't have all those skills that are needed.

Having access to the MLS opposed to secondary syndicated web sites may not provide accurate information when it comes to buying or selling a home.

In most cases having no skills can compromise decisions and personal emotions can get involved. Listing a home for more than its value can prove to be very unsuccessful over time. Never look at what you owe on a home to decide on a dollar value, the potential buyer isn’t concerned on how much you owe.

Having a professional real estate agent on your selling or buying team makes the most perfect sense. Real estate professionals do this every day, they are the most qualified to handle your real estate transactions, offer advice and provide answers to questions.
