July 4th fireworks 2014 in Los Angeles County include some truly specular day events and shows – after all, LA is the entertainment capital of the world. These aren’t just 4th of July firework shows, they’re full day events. Check out these Independence Day bashes, some of the best for 2014 around Los Angeles.
Downtown LA
Where: Grand Park
When: 4pm-9pm (gates open at 1pm)
What you need to know: This is the biggest rooftop fireworks display in downtown with festivities running from Temple to Second Streets. No grilling or alcohol but you can bring your own food and non-alcoholic beverages. Fireworks start at 9pm. Check out the website for a detailed parking map and street closure info.
- Costs - FREE
Why it’s so fun: There’s a main stage and side stage with music all night. There are also several nearby bars and eateries with specials like 15% off your bill at Justice Urban Tavern and buy 1 cupcake, get 1 free at Sprinkles.
Pasadena
Where: Rose Bowl Stadium
When: 12-9:30pm
What you need to know: It’s called AmericaFest. This event has motorcycle stunts, musical performances and a fireworks show that will knock your socks off.
- Costs – Parking is $25, Admission is $13 (under 8 is free)
Why it’s so fun: This is one of the biggest fireworks displays in all of SoCal, choreographed and produced by Pyrospectaculars by Souza. This 4th of July event is fun because it’s different that your average picnic in the park or BBQ.
Redondo Beach
Where: Seaside Lagoon
When: 2-9:30 pm
What you need to know: This all day event has several live bands, a DJ, puppet show, food and drinks, obstacle course for kids and so much more. Some tickets for the event include parking. - Costs – Community Open Table Seats: Kids $15, Adults $22. Sand Seating: Kids $15, Adults $20. There’s also several family deals (Kids 3 and under are free).
Why it’s so fun: Redondo has an amazing mix of fun for adults and kids. Adults can buy a beer, enjoy the live music and join in the drum circle while kids have their own fun like a parade, science show, and paddleboard races.
Hollywood
Where: Hollywood Bowl
When: July 2nd-4th
What you need to know: The annual great American extravaganza has amazing music and a fireworks show that you can catch Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Artists include Steve Martin and the Steep Canyon Rangers, the LA Philharmonic and the U.S. Airforce Band. Parking is available on site but limited, expect a packed lot when it’s time to leave.
- Costs – Tickets range in price from $13-$250. Parking ranges, usually about $20.
Why it’s so fun: It’s at the Hollywood Bowl! This open concert venue is perfect for a concert and fireworks display.
Long Beach
Where: Queen Mary
When: 12 – 11pm
What you need to know: The entire ship and Queen Mary area is chock full of live music and events to enjoy. Active duty military with valid ID are free. The highlight of the night of course is the fireworks show off the deck of the ship. - Costs – General admission: Kids $19.99, Adults $39.99 (pre-sale prices, $5 more day of the event). VIP Pass: $59.99 ($65 day of). Parking: $20
Why it’s so fun: It’s themed! Each area of the boat and surrounding area is a different decade with themed activities and entertainers so you can party in your favorite era of Independence. Some of the most unique experiences for the day include a VIP 1940’s USO tour with a radio show, tap dancing and more vintage glamour and an entire day glow arcade from the 1980’s.
Marina Del Rey
Where: Marina Del Rey (Fireworks shot from a barge across the main channel)
When: Fireworks at 9pm
What you need to know: There are free patriotic giveaways like flags, necklaces, pinwheels and more at the Visitor’s Center during the day and the firework show at night. The fireworks show includes synchronized music you can tune into on the radio and looks beautiful reflected off of the water. There are several lots but no street parking, be sure to come before 6pm if you want a spot. There are several places to view the fireworks show from including Burton Chace Park, Fisherman’s Village, and Mother’s Beach.
- Costs – Fireworks show is free, parking costs vary from lot to lot.
Why it’s so fun: Get there early with your lawn chairs, blankets and cooler stocked with snacks. Enjoy a picnic and day of fun at Chace Park with a water front view, that’s what everyone does! The park is surrounded by water on 3 sides and there are BBQ pits available to use.
