Most people, who want to sell their home, do not look forward to the selling process, and it’s no wonder. The process is unfamiliar, as this only will happen a few times in the life of most homeowners. The idea of having strangers come through your home, with a critical eye, and having to adjust to making your home available for showings, would not appeal to most people. There is a myriad of paperwork involved and even though the actual move may be a happy occasion, the process can be very stressful.

Having an experienced and competent Realtor to guide you through the process and is the key to being a happy seller. The standard advice in the newspaper columns on how to choose a Realtor does not address the most important aspect for a happy, stress free sale. Look upon choosing a Realtor in the same way as you would choose a companion on a trip, because that is what this will be. A journey and a very close relationship until you reach your destination, i.e. a successful closing. Is the person you are entrusting with what is likely your most important asset, trustworthy, ethical and knowledgeable? Are they compatible with you and do you feel comfortable with them? Do they have the time to personally devote to you and are they available and responsive? Do they care about your goals, or are you just a number? Use this as your criteria and you will have a more pleasant experience.
