If you're planning on having your home for sale in Dallas, you need a great realtor. If you're buying a home, you need a great realtor. But how do you find them and how do you tell a great realtor from one who isn't? After all, there are plenty of realtors and homes for sale in Dallas, so looking online and at ads don’t necessarily find you the right realtor. You need to ask questions and look for qualities that are important when selecting a realtor. Here are seven qualities you want in your realtor.

Trustworthiness

Having a realtor you can trust, one who is honest and straightforward is imperative. If you can't trust him or her to tell you the truth, you shouldn't be working with them. You should avoid real estate agents who push you into buying or pricing your home too high or low for the market because of some ulterior motive, or those who create a sense of urgency when there is none. These agents often leave bad tastes in both the buyers' and sellers' mouths. Look for a realtor you can trust; one who will tell you the straight scoop and who has a reputation for honesty.

Organized

Look for a real estate agent who is organized. Whether you have a home for sale in Dallas or whether you are looking at homes for sale in Dallas, he or she should be able to locate listings quickly, be able to recall or look up your particular requirements without much fuss. Having an organized agent will ensure that everything will go smoothly when it comes to ensuring that things get done properly when getting homes inspected, prices get negotiated, and when you finally close on the property. A disorganized realtor can be a nightmare.

Follow Through

Your realtor needs to be able to follow through on every lead that will either sell your home or will find the right home for sale in Dallas. Furthermore, anything the real estate agent says he or she will do can be depended on. Whether he or she says they'll call, email, fax, or otherwise get connected with the buyers and sellers -- or any other person in the process -- they must do so in a timely fashion.

Knowledge of the Area

Seems strange to have a realtor who represents an area who doesn't know the area, but it happens. If you're a potential buyer, you need someone who knows the area well enough so that they can find the right place just for you. If you're a seller, having a realtor who knows the comps and the positives of your area can help make your property look more attractive to buyers.

Willing to Generate New Leads

Whether your realtor is helping you buy or sell a property, he or she should be aggressive enough to look for new leads. He or she should be willing to "beat the bushes" and come up with either a potential property that maybe hasn't been listed yet, if you're a buyer, or come up with new potential buyers if you're a seller. A go getter attitude is highly desirable.

Listens to You

A great realtor is one who will actually listen to you and work with you in the entire process. It's frustrating as a buyer or a seller if your agent has their own agenda and won't listen to what you say. By having an agent willing to listen and act on your needs is highly desirable.

Keeps You in the Loop

It's frustrating when you're buying or selling your home and you hear nothing from your realtor. That's why having a realtor who lets you know through phone calls, text messages, and emails what is going on is highly desirable. That way, you know he or she is still working for you.

If you're planning on having your home for sale in Dallas, you need a great realtor. If you're buying a home, you need a great realtor. But how do you find them and how do you tell a great realtor from one who isn't? You need to ask questions and look for qualities that are important when selecting a realtor.
