Henderson was first settled during World War II when the magnesium plant begun where 25% of the magnesium used during the war by the United States was produced. It did not become a city till over 10 years after it was settled and the war had ended and was named after a state senator.

ash are some of the water sources found in Henderson. During the summer the washes will have hardly any water. However, when Henderson received rain, these washes can carry hundreds of gallons of water. Duck Creek has its own nature area where residents can walk through this unusually green area and enjoy the scenery on paved walking paths with shaded benches located in the park. Horseback riders can sometimes be seen riding their horses around this park as well.
Henderson is also home to several casinos, such as Sunset Station Casino and Green Valley casino. Ethel M’s chocolate factory is also located in Henderson and residents and tourist can take a tour and see chocolate being made through a large glass window. while taking this tour you can follow the chocolate through the conveyer belt and sometimes at the end you may even get a free sample! Ethel M’s also has a cactus garden which is a must see at christmas when the cactus are strung with Christmas lights.
