Overcoming Obstacles to Creating Video Content

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 31 October 2023 00:00

Oftentimes when I am talking with real estate agents about making videos, they are reluctant. They know they need to make videos, but they don’t. After you talk to enough people about any subject matter, you usually see patterns emerge. Welp, this is no different.

When we boil down all the reasons why people are reluctant to do video, they can be reduced to the following reasons.

  1. 1. Fear

  2. 2. Knowledge

  3. 3. Time

Let’s jump into these a little.

Fear.

Fear is at the heart of the reluctance we experience in life itself, so I am not surprised it shows its ugly head in making videos.

People are too worried about what others think of them, or about how they will be perceived. They also have a fear of how they will look or what they will sound like. Fear is a deep-rooted, subconscious mechanism. Oddly enough, it’s meant to protect you. In this case, fear protects your ego from criticism. Unfortunately, it also prevents you from realizing the massive success you were meant to achieve.

However, when you remove that noise and silence the critics, this fear can’t manifest. Stop worrying about what others may think. Love yourself, believe in yourself. After all, you are doing it and they are not! They are sitting on the sidelines, and you are playing the game!

Knowledge.

Lack of knowledge is a valid concern, and it has several tentacles. How do you shoot the video? What equipment do you use, and how do you use it? What subject matter do you talk about?

Don’t let what you don’t know stop you from reaching your goals. If you don’t know something, the key is to surround yourself with people who do.

Time.

Most busy professionals do not have the time to write scripts, learn how to edit, make the time to edit, handle the marketing, research titles, optimize write-ups, make thumbnails, and more.

You can’t do everything alone. There is only so much time in the day, and your time is best spent servicing clients and networking with potential customers.

Johnny Mo

Johnny Mo was a pre Y2K network engineer for a large dot com. In 2001, he entered real estate and quickly rose through many award levels, reaching the ReMax Hall of Fame in a short time. Around 2011, he went to Keller Williams and was immediately invited to join the ALC. He became one of the top 5 most profitable agents at the time. He developed More GCI, a goal-planning application, which grew into a full-fledged training program that allowed him to consult with several franchises and associations.

Always looking for ways to improve the industry, Johnny Mo saw a need with video. He noticed that everyone wants to tell agents to do it, but no one is willing to help them produce it, edit it and market it. They just want to sell a course. He developed Explore My Town, a video production and marketing company that offers a turnkey solution.

As Johnny Mo was building Explore My Town, he had the opportunity to have a meeting with famed author Michel E. Gerber, of “The E-Myth Revisited” series. He said to Johnny Mo, "Whatever you do, be revolutionary.” Johnny Mo took his advice. Want to join the revolution? Take a look at PartnerWithMyTown.com, and let him help you position yourself as THE area expert."
