Black Friday Who? Get Ready For Cyber Monday

Think you missed the boat on the best holiday deals if you skipped the Black Friday madness? Not by a longshot. Get ready for Cyber Monday, which is expected to be a blockbuster day for online shopping.

"Cyber Monday is forecast to be the largest online shopping day in U.S. history. Not bad for a made-up holiday that has its roots in the painful slowness of dial-up modems," said USA Today. "This year, Americans are expected to spend $6.6 billion online the Monday following Thanksgiving vs. $5 billion online on Black Friday, according to Adobe Analytics. That's despite ubiquitous smartphones and broadband, and plenty of online deals starting Thursday."

While many retailers have not released advertisements for Cyber Monday the way they have for Black Friday, and while some sale items remain secret until the morning of, there are some killer deals out there already. And where the exact deals don't yet exist, lots of prognosticating based on previous years does.

Amazon Cyber Monday deals

"Never mind Black Friday. The retail giant will offer savings on even more gadgets, hit video games, toys from brands such as Lego, Nerf and more," said c|net. "Cyber Monday gives you a second shot at the deals, and Amazon is just one of the many retailers rolling out new offerings for the so-called busiest online shopping day of the year."

So how much traffic does Amazon get on Cyber Monday? Last year the online giant broke a record, "with 740 items sold per second," they said. Among the deals this year are:

  • Great savings on a variety of Echo produce, including $50 off the Echo Show and $20 off the Echo Dot
  • $50 off the all-new Fire HD 10, only $99.99 - "the lowest price ever for the Fire HD 10"
  • Premium brand 49-inch 4K UHD smart TV, priced at just $329.99 (name revealed during sale)
  • 55-inch 4K UHD TV, just $224.99
  • Up to 30 percent off select robotic vacuums
  • Savings of up to 40 percent on select Black & Decker kitchen electrics

Everywhere else

Amazon is not the only big player on Cyber Monday. Target's big push, which has propelled Cyber Monday sales for the past two years, is 15% off site-wide. Add in a number of great deals in every department and it will be hard to resist some (more) Target shopping.

"At Target.com, you can purchase the KitchenAid 4.5-qt. Classic Plus Stand Mixer, $199.99, marked down from $259.99," said SILive.com. There will also be "additional deals each day of Cyber Week, from Nov. 26 to Dec. 2." And don't expect them to be second-choice items. "With a bevy of Editors' Choice-caliber deals, Target's Cyber Monday extravaganza may have you forgetting all about that other big shopping holiday," said CBS News.

Wayfair is one of our favorite online outlets for home furnishings every day of the year, and Cyber Monday deals are set to include kitchen items from top brands discounted up to 80 percent from November 25 through December 1.

Didn't get one of those Best Buy doorbusters? You may have another shot. "Last year Best Buy had an abundance of deals, and nearly 70% of them were Editors' Choice picks," said CBS News. "Look for TV deals nearly on par with Best Buy's Black Friday sale, as well as great prices on smartphones, Amazon devices, video games and consoles, and home automation."

Fridges, and washers, and dryers, oh my!

If you haven't pulled the trigger on your new appliances yet, you'll be happy to know that Home Depot and Lowe's 40% off deals will be going on through November 30. There will also be deals throughout other departments. Our tip: Hit Lowe's early. Excessive traffic crashed their site on Black Friday.
