How Your Virtual Realty Can Become a Virtual Reality

With everything going on in the world, it's hard to stay focused. For those operating the Real Estate space, it's hard to feel like the job is possible without breaking some serious protocol--particularly if you're operating out of New York or Washington.

The funny thing is, our technology has totally prepared us for this exact event. If this situation hit us 30 or even 15 years ago, life would have become a train wreck for every communication-based service contract that existed.

You might think that sounds a little heavy-handed. We always adapt, right? Life will find a way.

Well, the way would have been to ignore the warnings and keep stumping for a good catch with your buyers. You simply couldn't have had the kind of face to face engagement via the internet then as you can now.

Telecom has actually come a really long way in the last few years. So has mobile.

It's easy to take that for granted. We saw the gradual evolution, drip by drip, as Internet usage slowly shifted from desktop to laptop and finally to mobile.

Even as recently as just a few years ago, the majority of buyers on certain online platforms were still on desktop. That shifted dramatically over the last couple of years, making the cellphone the primary purchasing medium.

But what's a realtor to do? It's hard to show a house with a camera. There's a reason walkthroughs happen, right? You have to be able to navigate the space, step by step.

You have to be able to peek up at the light fixtures and bend down to inspect those rough patches in the baseboard where there might just be a little undisclosed water damage.

So where's our tech, here? You, as an agent, can certainly take a zoom call into the property and just let the client drive you around like a brainless automaton. But is that really the tech that we're supposed to have these days?

Well, I want a refund. This is not the future I was promised.

In Florida we tend to cater to a specific clientele. They are not tech savvy. They are not progressive. They want a nice place to settle down, someplace where living is easy, like one of those pet friendly gated communities in Boynton Beach FL (mostly gated communities and active adult communities – 55+ communities).

This type of client ALSO happens to be the most at-risk individual for serious health complications in our current landscape.

So if I asked them to join me for a zoom call, they'd probably be very lost. If I asked them to join me for a walkthrough, they would risk getting sick.

But what if I could call them to the curb of the property, and then give them VIRTUAL ACCESS to the ENTIRE HOUSE?

Crazy talk, you say? Well, let's talk crazy.

You buy a drone.

But not just any drone. You buy a drone with a VIRTUAL REALITY HEADSET.

The client stops at the curb. You talk through the car window about the outside and what you expect they'll want to see inside. Throw in a few pleasantries while you're at it.

And then you give them the headset.

Disinfect it in front of them first. It might use up some of your desperately gained wipes or spray, but it's worth it for the client relationship to show that you care.

Talk them through how to use the headset, and then send your drone into the space.

You'll have to drive, which takes some additional tech skills depending on your drone.

But you now have the ability to let your buyer navigate you through every corner of the space at will, without exposing themselves to any particular risk.

The drone gives them plenty of flexibility on high and low shots, and the VR lets them truly immerse themselves in the dimensional space of the home.

This might not be a cheap solution, and it might not be perfect, but taking the initiative here might just be the thing that differentiates the old realtor from the new. To be a virtual reality realtor performing virtual realty--in this day and age, that's a badge worth wearing.
