Design Your Lighting Like A Pro

Have you ever experienced the perfect ambience? Whether it’s your favourite hotel or restaurant, or even visiting a friend's home and experiencing the perfect lighting aesthetic. Lighting takes careful consideration and planning, and placing lights here, there and everywhere isn’t going to achieve the vibe you are looking for.

We always recommend creating a lighting plan. Much like a floor plan, only mapping out your lighting zones and noting what their use would be as well as what vibe you are looking to achieve. This way you know you are creating the perfect ambiance for your home, purchasing just the right amount of lighting and knowing exactly what you need and want.

Office Lighting

It’s recommended that you have a variation of lighting in an office space. Firstly starting with the main light. The main light can be striking and interesting, but not too overpowering. Remember, this room has to have characteristics of yourself so make this space personal so you are more productive and enjoy the space more. Moving onto useful lighting, we recommend having a small desk light that doesn’t make too much of an impact on your room but is useful when working and reading your laptop or papers. This way you can sit in a low lit room without damaging your eyes. For any additional seating areas in your office, for example comfy chairs for reading, a tall floor lamp is perfect. This way you are creating an interesting and comfortable reading space that is cosy, comfortable and useful.

Bedroom Lighting

Light your office lighting, your bedroom would benefit from more than one source of light. It goes without saying that you have two bedside lights, one either side of the bed to create symmetry. However, you can do this in the form of drop pendants to be different and create style and interest. For the perfect statement we recommend looking at Buster + Punch, this grunge style is simply timeless and will age beautifully.

Dining Room Lighting

The dining room has lots of uses and if you are looking for a space that is perfect for entertaining guests and hosting dinner parties we recommend two sources of light. Firstly, a statement light above the dining table creates a talking point when entering the room, as well as acting as a bit of a feature. This is easy on the eye and simply stunning when finishing off the design of your home, it really sets the tone. Equally, introducing no more than two floor lamps in this space is perfect for when you want to dim the lights and switch the ambience up.
