There are two mindsets surrounding the concepts of transformation and change. First, there is fear that comes with transformation and change. The feeling of not having control over something in your personal or professional life can be daunting, because it leaves us feeling helpless. And the second mindset is an apathetic, hands-off one. This is where the concepts of transformation and change seem so insurmountable that we accept them passively. Neither of these mindsets are warranted, because the reality is transformation and change are two completely separate occurrences. One of these you can control in your professional and personal life, and the other is mitigated by controlling the first. As a result, neither transformation nor change should prompt fear or apathy to well up in your mind.
The Differences Between Transformation and Change As I have mentioned here and in the past to clients and readers alike, transformation and…

The second step of the plan is to project where you want to be in 2023! The destination is target, this plan is going to be focused on how you go from where you are to where you want to go; the destination is what happens if it all goes according to the plan! In order to do it, we must define it! Success isn’t the same for everyone. You have choices on what to do, how to do it, and whom to do it with! Results matter! The key questions for the DESTINATION STAGE are: What do the numbers look like? Is it dollar volume or is it deals? In either case, what are those numbers? Was my conversion rate (opportunity to closing) something I am happy with? If you don’t know it, you need to begin tracking it! Where are the opportunities coming from? Once again, if you aren’t tracking,…

“They will come, daddy,” said Karen Kinsella in the movie “Field of Dreams” to her father, Ray Kinsella, played by Kevin Costner. “Who will come”? Her father questioned. “The people will come to see the baseball game,” said Karen. This was a moment in the movie when some could see players on the field, e.g., Shoeless Joe Jackson, Mel Ott, but others could not see those players. Ray had plowed under his cornfield in Iowa to build this field. He was facing the likelihood of bankruptcy on his farm.
“Bezbawl“, as Terrance Mann, played superbly by James Earl Jones, pronounced it, “is America’s game. People will come to this field, Ray, and ask if they could look around. And you (speaking to Kinsella) would say sure it’s only $20, and they don’t even know why they came.” Field of dreams was built and two major teams played a real major league game…

The ability of machines to communicate—and their increasing intelligence—is an exponentially accelerating trend spanning many industries. This technology trend is not slowing down in any way, and the more it is adopted, the more it will continue to accelerate, transforming our personal, professional, and social lives. Machines communicating with other machines really means next to nothing without a human being in the equation. Whether an individual works with this technology at their place of business or benefits from it by way of everyday conveniences, intelligent technology already touches all our lives today in some capacity. But if you are an avid reader of my blog, you know that nothing stands still in this digitally disruptive world for long. So, here’s the question I always ask: Where are we headed next with intelligent software, machines, and their impact on our lives?
The Technology of Internet of Things Defined Machine intelligence and…

Welcome to October! As you all know, October is the month I work with my clients to close the year strong by business planning for the coming year. This has proven to produce significant results because we have the time to flush out the plan and implement the new tasks, along with working through the new schedule, long before we start the new year. This is the first of four segments to help you succeed long before the others even begin! The first step is the ASSESSMENT STAGE! In order to complete any journey, you need to have in place two things; where you are, and where you are going! So, first we identify where we are! Key questions you need to answer are: How much business have…

“Ya gotta knock somebody down.” I could hear Head Coach Vince Lombardi of the Green Bay Packers yell from the sidelines as I refereed games during my 31-year career as an NFL referee when I officiated games in Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. Lombardi, one of ‘The Seven Blocks of Granite’ of Fordham University’s 1930s football team, was shouting to encourage his players that they must block and tackle during the game if they want to win. Lombardi’s method of blocking and tackling was solely with their shoulders and body – never with their helmets or head. Of course, in those days players helmets were of made of leather.
Today’s NFL players are using Riddell helmets made of plastic as are college and high school players. That often gives the players a false sense of safety which they believe allows them protection from injury. Blocking and tackling with the crown…
