Tips that Will Help Rid Your Outside of Home from Those Pesky Pests

Written by Posted On Wednesday, 31 July 2019 01:53

Pests can definitely be an annoyance and not only can they impel you insane, but they can create holes in your economic pockets as well.

Luckily, there is a wealth of information existing on how you can easily keep your home free from common pests such as cockroaches, spiders, ants, mice, rats and crickets. Your first impulse would be to whip out your bug spray, but that does not necessarily deal with the source, and as long as you haven’t done that, the bugs will keep coming.

There are different things you can do outside of your home to keep pests at bay.  Follow these home pest control tips mentioned below to help rid your home of those pesky pests.

Before they can make their way into your home, pests will need to have a reason to be around your home in the first place.

1.   Plants - Ensure that you keep your plants trimmed back. Slash off any branches that are hanging over your home. These plants or branches form bridges that insects can use to crawl across and get into your home. Also, avoid keeping anything like straw or mulch around your home, as these form ideal spots for pests to harbor in.

2.   Gaps and cracks - Check the exterior of your house for cracks in the walls, loose shingles, gaps in the wiring, or even the pipes. All these are potential spots for pests to come crawling in. It may take time and money to have the repairs done, but in the long run, they will prevent pests from coming in, and eventually save you funds on pest control.

3.   Windows and doors - All it takes is a little gap or crack for an insect to crawl through and make its nest in your house. Ensure that you fill up any gaps or cracks in your home. Also check for tears in your screen doors. Furthermore, a screen door with a mesh of at least 200 holes per square inch should be enough to keep pests out of your home.

4.   Lights - it is normal for the majority people to set lights on the outside walls of their house with most of the lights being near doors and windows. Light attracts insects and if the light is too near a door or window, these insects could easily creep into your home. Pest Control Adelaide services suggest that you use high pressure sodium vapor or even halogen lights instead of mercury vapor lights. Also, avoid colorful lights such as pink, yellow or orange, as these attract insects the most.

5.   Trash - Ensure that your garbage bins have tight fitting lids to prevent insects from crawling inside. Cover or drain any standing water to prevent bugs from breeding there. You are also advised to clean your trash bins on a regular basis to ensure they are too clean for insects to live in.

These are some tips that surely help you out to keep your outside of house yard, groundwork and lawn totally free of unwanted intruders.
