How To Make Sure You Are Getting The Most Of Your Independent Realtor

Written by Posted On Monday, 09 September 2019 02:00

When it comes to going with a a large real estate firm or an independent realtor, be sure you are making the right choice and getting the right realtor for you.

You're ready to buy or sell, but you don't know who to hire.

Choosing between an independent realtor or a real estate firm can be a tough choice, so how do you know what to look for?

There are some things that you should know before you hire an independent realtor, including what they do and what you can expect from them.

Read below to get more information and see if they are the best type of realtor for you to hire.

What is an Independent Realtor?

Independent real estate agents have their own offices that are not directly connected to the larger real estate firms you may see.

Typically, real estate firms will be local or franchised. The franchised options are all over the country, but local real estate firms will be within a defined area.

An independent real estate agent is not associated with these firms, but instead meets their own guidelines and rules for their office. While still having to follow laws, they don't have the follow the same rules that franchised or local real estate firm agents would.

An independent realtor is a specific term given to independent real estate agents that are members of the National Association of Realtors.

This is an association that requires payment of dues each year and will help real estate agents in different areas of their professional work.

Benefits of Choosing an Independent Realtor

There are three main benefits to choosing an independent realtor instead of a franchised realtor.

Freedom and Flexibility

One of the best things about choosing an independent realtor to work with you is that they are able to exercise more freedom in their work. There is more flexibility to do things the way that you and the realtor agree would be best rather than just following strict, franchised guidelines.

Focus on the Customer

Another benefit is that there is a better focus on your experience as the customer. An independent realtor can experiment a bit more to ensure you are getting the most out of your time with them as possible.

Independent realtors are going to be more likely to give you more fair pricing based on the idea that they want to make you happy.

Franchised realtors are less likely to be as committed to this because they probably have higher overheads.

Market and Local Knowledge

Lastly, an independent realtor is going to have a lot of market knowledge specific to your area rather than to larger areas.

Independent realtors have a more active spot in their local area because they are not part of a corporate franchise.

If you want advice about something, such as getting your gutter cleaned or finding a professional cleaning service, an independent realtor will likely have more insight into this type of information. They are more involved and therefore, more knowledgable about the community.

Independent realtors aren't required to know about other parts of the country or what is happening in other states because they are free to do their own thing.

Finding the Right Realtor For You

An independent realtor can be a great choice for certain situations, but it depends on what you want out of your experience.

If you're looking for something that is more unique and customer-friendly, an independent realtor is likely to be the best way to go.
