When you think about casino gambling, the first thing that springs to mind is one of the glitzy casinos on the Las Vegas strip in Nevada. While the Silver State is still one of the biggest markets for casino gambling, several other states house impressive casino industries and some of the biggest casino venues in the US. In no particular order, here is a quick run-down of some of the biggest casinos in the US.

Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada           

It should come as no surprise that a Las Vegas casino is appearing on this list, after all, Las Vegas is the gambling capital of the world. In 2018, more than 42.1 million people visited Las Vegas and you can be sure that a good chunk of them passed through the Bellagio. The Hotel and Casino opened its doors in October 1998 and has gained a reputation as one of the most luxurious casino venues in the US. The venue contains a 117,000 square foot convention space as well as a 155,000 square foot casino that houses 135 tables games, 2,300 slot machines and a sportsbook.

Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey

New Jersey’s Atlantic City is one of the most popular destinations for casino gambling outside of Nevada, but of all the casinos in the Garden State none is more popular than the Borgata. The Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa in Atlantic City, New Jersey opened for business in July 2003 and is widely considered to be one of the most popular casino venues in the Eastern United States. The casino boasts a floor space of 161,000 square foot and features over 2,000 hotel rooms, 180 table games and more than 3,000 gaming machines. The Borgata also plays a massive role in New Jersey’s thriving sports betting industry. The casino features a land-based sportsbook which works in tandem with playMGM’s sports wagering app. The size and game choice offered by the Borgata makes it the kind of casino that will appeal to both casual players and high rollers.

WinStar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma

The Native American-run WinStar World Casino is one of the biggest casino venues in the US. The venue is owned by the Chickasaw Nation and houses a 616,960 square foot casino space making it the largest casino space in the US. WinStar’s casino holds more than 7,000 gaming machines, about 100 table games, an 800-seat bingo hall, and an off-track betting parlor spread across eight gaming plazas named after different cities such as Paris and Vienna. The facility contains four different hotel areas making for a total of 1,399 hotel rooms as well as 17 different restaurants. The resort even has its own 27-hole golf course where guests can brush up on their swing. WinStar really does have something for everyone.

San Manuel Casino in Highland, California

Located just an hour outside of LA, San Manuel has served its patrons since 1986 when the venue initially opened as a high stakes bingo parlor. Now, in 2019, the Casino’s 300,000 square foot gaming space boasts over 3,000 gaming machines, more than 100 table games and a poker room with 60 tables. If gaming isn’t your thing, the venue also contains six restaurants each offering a different style of food. The California-based venue also operates a 165,000 square foot convention space where events are held on a regular basis.

Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut

Owned by the ‎Mashantucket Pequot Tribe Nation, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket is the second largest casino in the US. Foxwoods’ 345,000 square foot gaming space houses 8,000 gaming machines, just under 380 table games and the biggest poker room on the east coast, with 150 tables. The venue also features a racebook which has over 200 carrels, each one with its own touch screen. The Native American casino also operates a 150,000 square foot convention space which is used for a variety of events. On the entertainment side of things, Foxwoods houses 35 different restaurants and has several live performances year-round. Some of the most notable acts to appear at Foxwoods include Lenny Kravitz, Shawn Mendes, and The Beach Boys. The Resort has more than 2,200 hotel rooms spread across four different hotels. While it may not be as big as WinStar in Oklahoma, Foxwoods still has everything you could ever want in for a casino getaway.
