Reduce the Pressure & Increase the Patience

Written by Posted On Tuesday, 20 October 2020 05:00

I have been talking to many of my clients recently who have expressed that they are feeling overwhelmed from Covid and just wished everything could go back to the way it was. They do not feel like themselves, and their business doesn’t feel like it used to which is causing them great distress.

The last six months have probably forced you to change many regular business practices, and—no surprise—your business has changed in ways you could not predict and might not have been ready for. But we all rose to the challenge of this unique summer market, made the necessary changes, pushed through, hustled like crazy, and after all that effort, feeling burnt out is completely normal and natural.

So now, what I suggest is that you give yourself permission to take the pressure off. I have seen this work a lot for agents that have either announced their pending retirement or gone into recent retirement. Even agents who have been retired for a while will tell me that they seemed to be busier than ever once they turned off the faucet. I really believe that must have something to do with them taking the pressure off.

Stop judging yourself. Stop pushing yourself so hard. Stop expecting perfection. Stop expecting your business flow to be the same as it was last year. We are not in last year’s market and our world is very different. This is the first time in my adult life that I have ever experienced anything even remotely close to Covid. Other experienced agents will tell you the same thing. So we are all allowed to feel out of sorts and to be striving to find our new normal.

One of the ways you can get out of your own head is to start thinking about what you can do for other people. Take a creative break and think of new ways to connect with past clients or people who mean something to you and your business. The point is to make sure you take the time to do this. Do not try to fit it in between pouring a cup of coffee and sitting down to more reports. Prioritize taking time for others and for yourself.

The real message I want you to take home is this: Business will come. Just be patient. Trust the market. Even now, we are experiencing a robust market as people still need to buy and sell their homes.

Connect with a past client. Let them know that you are thinking of them. If it has been a bad year in terms of real estate, let them know the state of the market. Be honest, be upfront, and people will appreciate that. Do not be afraid to be reach out to your past clients. They know you, they care about you, and they are often your biggest fans. Embrace that.

Do not stressed out along the way because of what is happening with Covid. Think about the opportunities you have right now to bring joy back into your world. This includes giving back to others and taking the pressure off yourself.

Take the pressure off. Be still. And give back to others and take the pressure off.
