A dryer that won’t start may seem to be difficult to repair, but fixing it yourself is actually easy. Whether it is the thermal fuse or start switch that’s causing the problem, here are some helpful tips to get your dryer working again.
If your dryer is not running, the thermal fuse may be broken or malfunctioning. Disconnect the power source of your dryer before making repairs. Remove and dispose of the faulty fuse and replace it with a new one. Reassemble the dryer and run it through a cycle to make sure it is working properly.
The problem may also be the start switch. To fix it, you have to remove the wires located on the switch using a pair of needle nose pliers. Replace the defective switch with a new one, then reattach the wires in the correct positions. Reassemble the control panel and restore power to your dryer.
