Why Study in Huddersfield

In the UK alone there is over 130 Universities to choose from each with hundreds of courses to suit everyone, here are a few reasons why Huddersfield University shouldn’t be overlooked.

Despite not being a city, Huddersfield is a large town packed with all the facilities that any city has to offer. It’s located between Leeds, Sheffield and Manchester verging on the wonderful peak district.

The university campus location is ideal, located right in the town centre and has only recently been built so all the facilities are up to date and modern! If you can find accommodation near the town centre then you will be able to walk pretty much everywhere in minutes. There’s no need for a car, buses or even a bike! The train station also offers links to Leeds in less than 20 minutes if you fancy a quick shopping trip!

The nightlife in the town is great for students, with a great number of pubs, bars and clubs to cater for every need. You’ll find Student nights at various bars and clubs every night including at the weekends, so you’ll never be short of a cheap night out! A huge advantage to Huddersfield, not just for nights out, is that it has a lower cost of living compared to other nearby cities, the price of food and drink is lower than most places around the country, so it’s a great place to make the most of your student loan!

If you want to get involved in any sports or societies while you're in education, then Huddersfield doesn’t come up short here either. There is over 100 sports clubs and societies ranging from Football to Salsa dancing! There are also over 60 international societies which are open to all nationalities!

Fancy taking a break from your studies? You don’t have to go far to experience some breath-taking views in the peak district. Surrounding the town are many great walks which are ideal for a bit of procrastination. Don’t miss the views from the top of Castle Hill!

Just outside the town is the John Smith’s stadium, home of Huddersfield’s rugby league and football teams. They both currently play at the highest possible level for their respective sports. Both team’s welcome students and offer discounted tickets which is a welcome treat for the occasional match.

Whilst I have no doubt you’ll love your time studying in this great northern market town, I’d always advise anyone to take a visit before committing to where you’ll spend your next 3 years. Make sure to Google “student accommodation Huddersfield”, so that you choose the halls that will make you feel right at home!
