  3. Rub marks: You can also look for the rub marks on the floor. Sometimes the grease and dirt on the bodies of the rats leave a sign behind. If you notice smudges on the floors and other surfaces, then chances are high that your house is infested by rats.

  4. Rat holes: Another sign that you will notice if your house is infested by rats is the holes. The brown rats are quite well known for the digging extension for their own shelter like how termites eat through wood. They also use these holes for their nesting, food storage and safety.
